I'm keeping both but BBM takes priority. Being able to send apk's, word documents, etc on an IM feels great. The updates and display picture change rates make it feel like a social network on its own.

Indeed, BBM feels more like a Social Network. Also, BBM could rather be compared to MXit than WhatsApp.

I've noticed that the people that have come back to my BBM are previous BB users that had gone to Android. But they are using it a lot.

IMO, it far better than whatsapp, the icon selection is of a far better quality and the whole delivered and read things is great instead of relying on whatsapp's "last seen" feature.

The main reason I think BBM is better is exactly because you need to give people your pin or they must give you their pin to be able to chat. Even then you can still decline the request for contact if they got your pin from someone.

Really bothers me that with Whatsapp someone can simply get your cellphone number and start messaging you. Yes you can select to ignore the person then, but by that time they have already sent you some unwanted messages.

I tried for curiosity - added 3 - and deleted due to battery drain

BBM is a battery hog of note and it is slow and if you disable the annoying icon that permanently sits on your notifications bar, it becomes unreliable with delayed messaging. (Samsung Galaxy S2)

Strange,Ive installed it on my s4 and my wifes s4 and I have noticed virtually no battery differrence at all....in fact I have mine permanently active and just tried looking in the battery indicator menu now i cant find usage stats for the app but my gmail shows 2% usage so where are you guys seeing the percentage of battery its using?

IMO its not a perceivable difference.

What I hate about whatsapp. You have to give people your cell number and everyone who has your cell number or that you have is automatically added. This is really frustrating when you have clients constantly using it for support :/

What I like about BBM is that I dont have to give out my cell number.

Neither whatsapp nor BBM are my first choice in messaging apps but I keep them around for other people who prefer them - no skin off my back.

BBM works fine on my phone. I also use WhatsApp because most of my contacts are on there. It has also happened that friends with Android devices sent me BBMs and not WhatsApp messages. So, let's see.

It wouldn't surprise me - I seemed to be getting bbm updates almost daily for a while in the beginning.
