Where ever you go you will find open Wifi network (Starbucks etc..), so just connect to them instead of roaming data....

Kind of defeats the purpose of anytime push email if you're only going to switch on the service when you're parked off at starbucks.

By the way - if you're going to complain about the price of blackberry roaming you're really going to have a conniption when you see the price of that cup of starbucks coffee!

Local SIM in Dubai was advertised as R52/MB after curency conversion. The UAE is not part of the R17.50 flat rate structure.

Are you talking about BIS / BES emails , contacts on a BES server using Outlook GAL and so on , web browsing ???

I phoned MTN a while back and asked them if there is any extra roaming charges on Blackberry and the operator said no.

I was told by the 808 MTN (un)helpdesk that as long as i was using the Blackberry APN in Mozambique, i would not be charged.

This Morning i got a R5000 bill for roaming data calls, the said " I was misinformed ", and basically " Sorry for you, now pay up or get disconnected !!"

Try roaming in the USA. The best you get there is R109 a MB! R17.50 sounds like a total bargain by comparison...
