BlackBerry speed tests

Are you saying that you are happy with 51 Kbits/s download? For me anything below 200 Kbits/s is unacceptable.
I have to wonder if you don't have unrealistically high expectations of EDGE.

this service really is going backwards again, full signal on 3G - BIS Icon showing and i can't connect to facebook, speed test times out... back to square one it seems.

I recall square one being much slower than this:

Connection Type: Carrier
Avg. Download Speed: 117.15Kbits/s
Max. Download Speed: 117.15Kbits/s

Avg. Upload Speed: 5.35Kbits/s
Max. Upload Speed: 30.78Kbits/s

I have not been able to perform a speed test now for a while. Last week it would not even try to do the download test...would jump to the upload one...now it is saying Error code: 413 :-(

mine also doing the same thing... can't download anything
it's become worse than it was before the upgrade:mad:

My speedtest is also timing out again today.

My question is if I signed up for the blackberry contract (not the normal contract with blackberry added onto it). Do I have grounds to cancel the whole thing and not just get refunded the blackberry part of it?
The whole reason for me getting the contract was the internet and email.
It’s also impossible to ask this question to anybody in any Vodacom call centre they all want me to take my phone into a Vodashop to get it checked out.

Connection Type: Carrier
Avg. Download Speed: 0.0Kbits/s
Max. Download Speed: 0.0Kbits/s

Avg. Upload Speed: 28.61Kbits/s
Max. Upload Speed: 206.28Kbits/s

Emailed the result to myself.
It's still not in my inbox after 13 mins.

LMAO damn! Run a speed test daily for a week then Email them to Slowdacom demanding a refund for BIS.

This is for GPRS, sometimes it shows EDGE, not 3G, it is the 8520 handset.

The performance is not great at all, funny thing is when I got it, it was fine, now it seems to have slowed down drastically

you're lucky, i'm having difficulty with fb app not connecting/timing out and certain websites not loading.

I see Vodacom is REALLY paying attention to our complaints. Today ... 2-3 minutes to load a page off a VERY fast locally hosted server. I think it's quicker to get Winston the Pigeon to transfer data for us.

Even local is extremely slow, which debunks my idea that maybe VC is using the BIS service as a testing base for the Seacom trial runs.

Anyone seen the funny Max. Download Speed: 2.147483647E7Kbits/s ?

The Blackberry service is not limited to EDGE. My Blackberry Storm often/mostly indicate a signal availability of 3G/HSDPA. When using it as a modem I am able to reach download speeds of at least 2 000 Kbits/s.

VodacomData is aware and awaiting feedback. I am sure he will post here as soon as he has more detail as to what could be causing this and proposed resolution.

Thanks ocleroux
I know it's not his fault and he is trying his best but its frustrating as hell to say the least.
Last time this issue took 3 months to resolve.
