BlackBerry speed tests

@ Astound....please note that I have found out that the BB APN is not reflecting on your number. Please ask 082155 if they can provision that for you as I can not do it on my side. Please post the outcome here.

I had a look on your number and I can see the BIS service on our number on my system, but put in a query to see if the service is actually provisioned properly on your line. If you get a update before I do, please post here.

OK, my phone is new, just received it two weeks ago on a handset upgrade/migration, with Weekender Plus option, BIS included.

Called 082155 on receipt of the handset to activate BIS which was duly done and it was great initially, but of experienced the degradation of the service thereafter.

As the new month is imminent, I like this word, the BIS activated earlier has been deactivated as of 00h30 last night and will be re-activated tomorrow for the new billing cycle or so I was just told, which explains my dead BIS service today.

May affect other new Blackberry adoptors so may as well carve all of this in stone here for their benefit should they find the same issue.

Will have to be patient until my new BIS service is re-surrected again ;)

Thanks for you efforts ocleroux :D

Ahhhh I see now what happened. Did not realize you had BIS active before. Checked the system notes on the system and basically what happened is when you did the upgrade, the deal that you took has BIS included, but this uses a different service code as apposed to the normal BIS service u already had active before the upgrade. The system therefore had to de-activate the normal BIS service and set the activation for the new BIS serivice that is included in the deal that you took with your upgrade. Now it makes sense :-)

WoW you must feel like an ass not even having the service active and complaining the entire morning.

Not really, especially since I had an _active_ service which had been de-activated without my being informed.

Would you not find it strange if your activated service just stopped without warning?

Have one on me, oomtas, cheers

Now now....play nice you guys :-)

Most service consultants would not have known this would happen. The changeover was done in the background by the system. I also would not have foreseen this. We are only human. :-)

Hey, I don't mind anyone taking a dig and fancying their chances, but never enter a battle of wits unarmed, maybe stick to the oomtas, oblivion is a safe place :D

LOL ok. Will check back here tomorrow to see if you up and running. And god help you if you post about slow speeds once it is back up. I will deactivate your BIS again so quickly ure head will spin hehe (kidding)

I see astound had a separate issue, nevertheless speeds continue to be very poor.
I've been unable to use satnav today, web browsing is possible but very slow.

Do we really have to go through this complain/vc denial thing again?

It's such a waste of energy.

Looks like its going to be the denial thing again.
Why cant anybody from Vodacom atleast say that yes they have a problem but they are looking at it or no they don't so everybody with issues must have their phones checked out.

I think all allot of us are asking for is some official coms from Vodacom.

When Vodacom supposedly double their capacity a few months back their was an article about it and everything.
Dodging difficult issues are no way to resolve them.

I would not say we are back to normal

it's all over the place, i briefly got around 200kbps - lasted a few minutes, then went back to the single digit speeds.

Why would anyone go for BB?

Don't think it's BB in general.
It should be a great service. And on another network for now at least it seems to be.
It's just the Vodacom BB that is way over subscribed.

just did a speedtest.... the results speak for themselves
