BlackBery Torch 9800 launches on MTN

Sweet been waiting for this!

Anyone know when see can see what packages it will come with?
 
RIM's making big in-roads in South Africa. Every second person I see has a BlackBerry. Unlimited browsing's a big draw.
 
is this phone any better than the Nokia N97
 
Got this phone 2 weeks ago on Vodacom...moved from nokia and i love this phone. No complaints here...

Unfortunately Nokia cannot offer what BB does. The N8 might have the HD capability and the copy direct from USB functionality, which is good and all, but you cant do as much. N8 is great for Audio/Video, but it still lacks a few things. Nokia is losing market share, and their chasing, and the N8 is their answer. Just my opinion

BB social integration is key here...nokia cannot offer that
 
BB Torch review on gsmarena: "It’s only good enough to compete with mid-range multimedia devices" - not even close to iPhone 4 and Android (Galaxy S, HTC Desire, Motorlola, etc)
The device is OK, but the OS sucks, Limited App Store - mostly themes that copy iOS / Android - enuf said.
BTW all devices now do push mail.
BB is good if you like your device controlled / locked down by your boss.
If I purchase a R89 data package on Nokia/Android/iPhone/etc and limit usage to basic e-mail, on-device browsing, Mixit vs BBM, no youtube/streaming then it's the same cost.
So you see BB is not cheaper - just limited and locked in.
 
HTC HD2 running Android FroYo FTW. Does all Nokia and BB do plus some in one package. Got 4 BB's in the house so have a comparison base.

This is all total BS they do not have this phone at any store, apparently they will only get it towards end of november. They are misleading the public.

Response from them on hellopeter when I complained about the handset not actually being available. I intend on lodging a complaint with the ASA.
 
It well known that you can IM from almost any phone out there, but the difference comes in with the fact most people I know or interact with using my mobile have a BB. The fact that RIM locked outside access to their IM will mean eventually I would need to purchase a BB if I ever wanted to message them. (btw I'm a student- not looking at the business side of this, just the social)

Just like the iPhone, the N8 is also a very nice multimedia phone. Business, no, definately not. I don't see a board full of executives using a bunch of N8's or iPhones. Blackberry on the other hand is starting to take a lot of the market share. Business executives use them, the average Joe use them, and now even young people also start to use them. Lots of people I know now uses Blackberry Messenger instead of Mxit or any other IM app out there.

So for me the BB Torch will be the next upgrade. Hopefully getting it this week still thanks to nice people at MTN.

You can do a lot more with an old 5800 running SymVPN. The N8 does everything a fruit can do just better and without being locked down (iOS / Android) or tied down (BiS). The only reason RIM sells phones is to sell BiS backend servers to the networks. It is total clay tard. F.... you Gumby!
