Blade Runner 2 release date announced

If Ford returns then Deckard is not a replicant which means that they have to resort to Terminator Genesys type ideas to explain Deckards ageing?

1 - Spoilers! Even if it's a 30 year old movie :p
2 - Huh? If he's not a replicant then he ages normally like a human.

I believe classic movies should be left alone.

Can't say I'm happy about this :erm:

Nooooo why did you have to say that!!!

Good question actually. Do replicants age exactly as humans given the fact that they need to be as human as possible to be classified as a replicant?

Sorry, definitely not Terminator territory.

IIRC they have very short lifespans with an expiration date.

Not available on Netflix or Google Movies. Will have to download it I guess. And then they wonder why people ....... erm. ...... borrow stuff.

There are a number of versions as well. Directors cut. Alternative ending and more.

Everyone's going to put up their hand to tell you which of the versions is best... Pro tip, the original '82 Cinema Release. Harrison Ford did a voice over in that version, Scott hated it and omitted it from the other versions. Thing is, without reading PKD, some of the imagery in the newer versions can be confusing. The voice over simplifies things and completes the film, for me at least. I'm betting if you haven't watched it yet, it'll work better for you that way too. There is a version on KAT, check the comments first.
I am one of those folks that think Blade Runner is the best movie ever. Watched it in the cinema in '82 and have had copies of it since, Beta then VHS then DVD and now 1080 goodness... I've had media drives crash and it's always the first movie I replace. I can't remember how many times I've watched it over the years, but it's enough to know most of the dialogue by heart... Which leads me back OT... The sequel scares the bejesus out of me. All the right folk seem to be attached but the original has been such a thing for me that I'm still not sure it should be messed with.
I suppose it's ironic that the original kinda tanked at the box office but it's cult status over the last third of a century has shifted the ground so, that the potential earnings off a sequel are too good to pass up. C'est la vie.

Like Pris who's birthday was like yesterday, but I think they age normally which means that Deckard could be a 70 year old replicant or not.

Her birthday was on Valentine's Day... Incept Date 14 Feb, 2016. Roy's was 8 Jan, 2016 and Zhora's rolls around on June 12.

My personal opinion is that they should have left it be.

I've watched a few versions but I prefer the original.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears...in...rain. Time to die.

^^,Rutger Hauer improvised that line...pretty amazing.

Don't mind remakes / sequels / reboots...doesn't do anything to the original films.

please don't F this up please don't F this up please don't F this up

As trailers go, that's a pretty great one...reveals nothing (though we all know the broad strokes of what's coming anyway).

And BTW: Please don't screw up Blade Runner.

I'm 99.99% certain that they will. They are gonna fsck it up like you can't believe in order to appeal to the masses. They almost always fsck up sequels, one exception that comes to mind is Terminator 2 which was the best out of the lot.

Godfather 2, The Dark Knight, Empire Strikes Back, Wrath of Khan, The Road Warrior, X-men 2...all better than the original and there are probably more. Could argue Aliens is as good as Alien...very different movies though.

Basically...don't be a sourpuss, ponds :p

Good sequels are in the minority. Trust me when I say I love this movie and I'm really really hoping like hell that the sequel is great but overall they usually suck donkey balls. I hope I'm wrong, I really do.

^, sure...chances are it will be mediocre because the IP is complex. But there's always a chance...the choice of director is really good so I have hope. Villeneuve has Sicario, Arrival and Prisoners under his belt...those are solid movies. I would have been upset with JJ Abrams or Zack Snyder getting the job...those guys do spectacular but superficial work.
