Blade Runner 2 release date announced

Watched the remastered version a few months ago, was amazing!! A 2h movie made in 1982?! Amazing.

I wasn't impressed by the time I got to watch it. No doubt I would've liked it back in the 80s if I was around.

Weren't there plenty of 2+ hour movies in the 80s?

Nope, quite rare from what I can remember. Dune is the only other one that comes to mind - you'd have a break in the cinema halfway through the movie for a quick pee break and to get more popcorn, then they'd start up again.

Denis Villeneuve has made 3 movies I enjoyed ALOT - Prisoners, Enemy and Sicario. I am quietly optimistic about this sequel.

When my brother went to see Dune when it came out, he was the only one in the cinema.
The Projectionist came out during the intermission and asked him if he was going to buy anything. He said no.
So the guy went back and started the movie again.

There were some epic length movies in the 80s. The first one that comes to mind is Little Dorrit, which was six hours long. They had a break for supper half way through.

And BTW: Please don't screw up Blade Runner.

I saw Dune many, many times in 1984/5.

I was pregnant with my son, who was born with such clear whites of his eyes that they looked blue...

I have never seen Blade Runner but have heard about it many times. I think I should give it a watch.
You should definitely give it a watch. A true classic.

Not sure I'm thrilled about the idea of a sequel though. The story was told so well in the original.

I watched both the original and the newer remastered version. IMO even the remastered version with those added scenes was too much. It gave the audience far too many hints to answers for questions they should have walked away wondering endlessly about.

If Ford returns then Deckard is not a replicant which means that they have to resort to Terminator Genesys type ideas to explain Deckards ageing?
