Blazer 1200VA UPS any good?

Does anybody here own a Blazer brand UPS? I can get a 1200VA on friday for R900. I tried a Powercom 600VA (R430) but my PC overloads it for some reason (without screen) which leads to it instantly killing power to my PC due to overload protection. I'm willing to splash R900 for a 1200VA if it's not a piece of dung

Not to divert the topic, I would like to know what the pro's and cons of using a "car 12v battery + inverter " combination, vs a normal UPS.

Writing this i realise perhaps a better question is what is the best KVA rating one can get using a car batter / truck batter + Inverter,

Oh gosh i see where this is going ... the next question would be |which inverster and how are they (inverters) rated anyway ...hmm, let me do some googling, but everyone is free to answer.

The cheaper inverters (I think they are cheaper anyway) use a modified sine wave (not that I know what that means) which causes your PSU to buzz the whole time, but it's supposedly not damaging.
I used a 1200W inverter with a modified sine wave + a deep cycle "caravan battery" (cost R600 - R700 I think) and it kept my PC running for 1,5 hours before the inverter started complaining about low voltage (10,2V under load). It's my dad's for his office which I tested for him. It's a bit too expensive for myself but I must say, it's really worth it if you want to run your PC at an office for 2 hours. I did two spyware scans while surfing the net constantly.
My PC is quite energy guzzling. 17" CRT, overclocked CPU/mobo and an 8800GTS 640MB gfx card. An average office PC would run 2hours+ (a guesstimate ), especially if it uses a LCD.
