Hi y'all. I'm a newbie looking to start a blog (motivational) so I'm looking for advices/recommendations on hosting/domain and stuff. I want to use a .com. Anyone?

Thanks very much mate. I'll check them out. I was thinking to register with Wix since they are free and then purchase a domain from Goddady heard their price is cheaper in SA.
 
You could host a blog on blogger.com for free. Just point a domain at it. Use cloudflare for DNS.

Million thanks bro. I checked blogger they seem pretty decent for starters. I'll explore the other ones as well

Can confirm. Fantastic piece of software and the new members + newsletters feature is really great. Been using it for many years.

OpenWeb has some nice hosting packages if you want a DIY approach. Luckyregister or Namecheap might have a deal on a .com domain.

Also you could start out with a free blog on Wordpress.com.
 
Please watch out for deals on other top-level domains. Just got the shock of my life. My .tech domain is due for renewal at R563.34 for 1 year.
