Blood Pressure...

What do you think of Generic versus Real high blood pressure pills-? Is refering to active ingredient good enough for your life of which you only have one-?

I used the generic version of Lisoretic a while ago, no difference was noted.

May also differ from person to person.

Cardiologist has said I shouldn’t go back on Bisoprolol (possibly because of the bradycardia) but that I should start Amlodipine instead. Anyone have any experience with it?

Yes, I was on Amloc for 7 years but was changed to telmisartan (Tesar) about 2 years ago after I reported some issues. Before those I had been fine on amlodipine. And it was fully covered by DH, unlike Tesar.

Ah cool. Any side effects you can remember?

Yes, but I am very cautious about attributing them directly to amlodipine without more evidence so please don't take these as gospel. I'd had several episodes of atrial fibrillation starting a year after going on Amloc (each lasting between 8 and 17 days) but 2 of those were very shortly after taking other meds known to trigger AF. I haven't had any episodes since going on Tesar. Another very annoying symptom I developed was facial flushes - which has also resolved since starting Tesar. There were a couple of other arb things as well. I didn't ask to come off Amloc but had told my GP about the symptoms (and he certainly knew all about the AF) and on a visit to him he just announced he was changing my medication.

Thanks. Started last night, and slept through no issues. Taken again this morning and feeling a bit lightheaded but none of the other side effects.

New stent in my OM1 was successful. Will be discharged today. Procedure was quite quick. Didn’t even know they’d started and then they told me all was good. Up to 2 now, the first being in my widowmaker. Hopefully after a few weeks the symptoms that led me here will subside and eventually be a thing of the past.

That's excellent news. Will you need to take any medicines for life?

24hrs after my stent, and my BP is at a respectable 128/87. Will keep taking daily readings, but glad to know that I may have gotten rid of the cause of the high readings.

My BP was a bit on the low side yesterday evening. 110/70. No worries there, mate.

Was feeling a bit tired, thought it was unusual, and measured.
That BP is textbook normal. Low BP is below 90/60.

So my last 3 doctors visits my BP reading was always on the high normal range. Very close to stage 1 hypertension. I got the clicks arm BP monitor to take daily readings. On a normal day Im on 130/80. On stressful days it goes up to 140. When I take readings a few hours after exercise then my reading is within the normal/optimal range. Could this be right ? I thought that our BP lowers after time when making certain lifestyle changes. To me my high BP readings are directly related to work stress. I downloaded the BP reading app so ill take that report to my next doctors appointment .
