Blood Pressure...

I just do 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening as requested. (if it looks way out I'll redo it)

Dont know why its been so high when taken my the professionals, mine hovers in the normal range mostly ... so will drag my monitor with next time.

It’s called white coat syndrome. Even though you’re not aware of it, being in a doctor’s office/hospital is subconsciously stressful and can spike your BP.

BP started creeping up before I went on holiday. Didn’t bother taking readings until yesterday. Thought maybe the sun and a relaxed environment would help. It didn’t. First reading back was 132/95. Not wanting to leave it unchecked while I figured out a natural way to get it under control, I decided to go back on 8mg Candesartan. Worked as expected: 119/88 this morning. Still doesn’t fix my elevated diastolic (which remains a mystery), but at least the systolic is back under control. RIP my kidneys, though.

Exactly what I suspect. I hate being touched. Don't like massages, etc. But will be nice to have some confirmation so I can keeping hitting the pre workout

Goal this year is also weight loss, I think dropping to 100 might also help a bit in getting into optimal BP levels.

Blood pressure is now under control with the third round of medication, from over 200 to 136.

Unfortunately, I have now been diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia. Apparently, my cholesterol is over 300% of normal levels. The odd thing is that I do eat fairly healthy foods, so it seems genetic. Sure I'm overweight but not significantly.

I am going to see a dietician on Thursday to find out what I can do. I've got a bunch of new medication to add to my collection.

So I reckon this makes a hattrick now: Hypertension, high cholesterol, and ADHD hyperfocus with bipolar type 2. Seems I've got quite the collection.

I'm surprised I'm still alive at this rate.

Looks like back to pill every day instead of alternate day. :crying: Need to reduce salt from diet that crept up last 40 days or so.

Yoh - this is hectic, man. I don't know what to say.

OK, so mind is officially blown. Always take my BP the same way: sitting up straight at my desk, feet flat on the ground, arms out in front of me on the desk. Calm, then take three readings, and use the average. No matter what I do (quit vaping, medication, supplements, exercise) my diastolic simply will not go down. Until today.

I randomly saw a recommended video on YouTube about how to properly measure your BP at home. One of the most important steps was to ensure that the cuff was level with your heart. I always figured slightly below with my arm on the desk was fine. So I tried a pillow under my arm to get it properly in line. And my reading was 117/80! As in every diastolic reading was 80, three times in a row! Removed the pillow just to check, and I hit 86 three times in a row.

I guess it makes sense now why the GPs hold your arm up when they take your arm up when they take your BP, or the arm rest in hospital is so weirdly high in the triage station.

So, I have been trying to find alternative to cozomovek-80 as I am paying close to R100 as co-payment and discovery pays R75. What a joke.

Anyways, got hold of discovery agent and asked them. Agent was really helpful and told me that if I request either Adco-valsartan or Niosar then discovery would pay 100%

Went to dischem close by and asked at the pharmacy since my next meds are only due in 3 weeks time but I want them to dispense me with "mahala" meds when time comes.

Guy behind counter insisted that cozomovek-80 is adco-valsartan. I asked to give generic for Niosar/valsartan and he says cozomovek-80 is the one approved by discovery.

What gives ? I am confused. I will just visit another branch or clicks to see if I get any joy.

Is there any way to get the BP automatically into Garmin without buying a Garmin BP measure?

Short answer, no other way yet.

There is an api for it, and I go the cli tool updated for the same library used by MiScaler Exporter app, but haven't had the time to see if one could build an app. Unfortunately requires device integration.

Tried my best to get Omron to add garmin support like they have for google-fit and samsung-health, but nothing so far months later.

So while technically it could be done, no one has done it yet.

Ah thanks .

The cost of a Garmin ecosystem adds up ... I've already got a R3k scale, so I don't want to spend tons on BP.

The only proper way to get BP is to use an arm cuff unit, these watches IMO dont give proper readings
They have a cuff unit that isn't available locally - but also expensive.

So I was hoping that something else may be able to get the info in it - or even Apple Health really

That unit at least has a cuff

Anyone needed to try those 24hr blood pressure machines?

115/79 but with everyday meds. Will try alternate day meds after another 5kg weight loss.
