Good, I am glad we have kissed Andre away, no more loadshedding

Blow to Andre de Ruyter

@epah - Now's your chance to shed some load.

He couldn’t turn things around because Eskom, along with your tax, is some politicians plaything.

Who in their right mind thinks you can turn an SOE around when the people above want you to fail?

Andre knew from the start that he would not have full authority in ESKOM - he accepted the job because of the perks and salary. Maybe he tried to do things the right way and was forced to not do so, all we can do is speculate.

What I can say with a bit of confidence is, if Andre had FULL control of Eskom in every way, load-shedding will be a thing of the past very soon.

Let's remove all the solar that was installed since his departure, and then take another look...?

lol, the only reason Eskom is "doing better now" is because people are installing their own private power generation.... it has nothing to do with better performance....

Too little, too late. If South African's hadn't started to help themselves for the last 2-3 years, then Eskom would have been burning all those stations at both ends, and it would have just kept getting worse and worse.

Expect behavior similar to Telkom back then, now that Eskom's monopoly is unraveling. A fee here, and a fee there. Increases here and there. Mostly on last mile. Right until distribution is finally split off completely, and Eskom generation becomes just another generation player, big or small. And then it'll be either increased debt relief, or selling off stations they don't have the organizational capacity to do more with, other than to keep them limping along, but which may still have extreme potential, one way or another, to companies that are not being bullied by the ANC patronage network into following a specific MO.

No offence but his story we hear is a little bit infantile, do rooftop PV's reduce demand... sure... would it make a huge difference, not really.

I cant believe people actually buy into this story, it's just pure unadulterated gossip.

Eskom says 5500 MW of rooftop. This obviously is more than domestic rooftop solar.
