Andre was Out of his depth. He used company time writting a novel while the ship was on fire? The same happened at Nampak. His survival at Sasol was by broederskaap until the Canadian started exposing the leaks...and he ran...until now...The fictional novel he penned was good to read though...I think this is one of his strengths, supported by his undergraduate studies...BA..

How stupid can people be? Changing the institution and catching up on the maintenance backlog was an exercise of years. So much momentum to change around and it required herculean effort from De Ruyter to get it as far over as he did and now they try give the credit to the guy who inherited his work? Idiots. Changing the culture of an organization as well as its entire maintenance strategy. Well done again De Ruyter. Also Kudo's to the new leader for sticking with what he implemented and so re-enforcing the move. Eskom is a huge ship with a small rudder and takes strong leadership to stay the course and get it back on course. Still probably too little too late but hey, they gotta do the best with what they where handed post the damage of the ANC years and in particular the Zuma years.

His own words, his stratergy did not work. The Horse was dead. He tried 18 months after he started, it did not work. The chap was clueless. What's now working is a plan which implementation started 12 months ago. Credit to ADR for giving a nice novel to read. Also could do well in working with or the hawks and NPA after all he is a trained lawyer and a decent orator.

Besides, you can be sure that a short tenure like that is never going to see tangible results during your time. Your successor will reap most of the rewards.

Too many external factors. Consider if it was election year while he was there there wouldve been just as much political motivation to keep lights on as there has been recently

His plan was brilliant but, but the wrong season. The results doesn't show overnight. Eskom shot down his plans to working with OEMs, and now after he left, hulle ogies is nou oop... So either things is heading the right way, or Eskom is keeping the drama under wraps.

I don't believe for ONE second that private rooftop solar generation 'fixed' loadshedding overnight. Why? We would have seen from the get-go, gradual improvement of the generation capacity, as more and more households are reducing the load on the grid, and yet, loadshedding were still in effect, and got worse fast. (After AdR left)

Even Minister 'we must eat' tried to get his grubby hands on tendas and money by creating a PetroSA 2.0, for the sole purpose of being the only supplier for Eskom and others?

And the fact that politics deeply integrated into the electricity supplier, makes this whole thing even more suspicious.

One thing that needs to be addressed, is the cadre-deployment/employment in every aspect of business they are in. I can't even employ my own son in the same company that I am in, my coworkers will report me of nepotism, but the politicians do it all the time with friends and family. How does that work?

Something's afoot here, I smell it. Not sure if it is really a good smell or a stinking, steaming pile of horse manure.

Shops are open till about 8pm and the alarms, fridges and basic lights are still kept on.
Homes sure but businesses switch back to grid during peak
