How much are they and where can I buy one? I'm guessing the official nokia one would be a tad expensive? Any other brands?

You have to remember that the Garmin Mobile 10 includes both the GPS module and the software (South African maps included) needed for navigation. If you want to, you can go for something like this "http://www.citynavigation.co.za/gps-blue-tooth.htm" wich goes for ±R800.00.

I've never used them before so I don't know tbh but I remember hearing that the Sirf III chipset was good. Not a bad price either. ;)

Hehe thanks. It's very tempting. Seeing that I'll be travelling more in my life now, it might be a good idea to get one since I have decent phone now. It's still charging (16 hour initial charge). It's torture :o

I thought that 16 hour initial charge didn't apply to new phones?

The guy at the vodashop told me to charge it for 16 hours. Rather safe than sorry I guess? :p The Quick start guide just states that I should charge it fully. No 16 hours etc charge. Would keeping it on the charger till tomorrow morning cause damage if it's not required anymore?

True. ;) My N73 says 'battery full' and stops charging when its done so it should be fine.

You can get the Nokia LD-3W which includes Garmin maps, about R 1199 if I'm not mistaken, the Garmin Mobile 10 unit is a few hundred rand more. You can buy a standalone GPS receiver for R 599 and do some searching around the net for some free map solutions or you may even find cracked maps.

Where can one get a standalone GPS receiver for R599 around Gauteng?

I am also looking to buy a BT GPS for my E51. Have you bought one? What is your opinion. Maybe the best is to go for a standalone GPS?

I bought this one for R750 from wantitall and it works great. The only problems I have is that
1) The cell's battery doesn't last as long as the gps's :p
2) I need to find free software which is fast AND has up to date maps
Google maps doesn't have my residential area's maps, so that might pose a problem in the future when I'm looking for a place.
amAze is slow, but has decent maps (I've been using this one mostly in my area to test out the GPS)
Nokia maps has a 3 day voice guidance trial. Wonder how much it costs? Nokia maps has decent maps.

I'd say for R750 it's great IF you can get decent software for it :)

I bought a Holux GPSlim 240 that I use with my phone. brilliant little thing. got it off ebay, pretty cheap. works like a charm.
