I'm thinking about getting a headset. The main purpose really is simply to take a call if necessary while on the road but I don't intend spending hours in the car on the phone. So either a in/over ear headset or a basic clip to your dash type device.

Does anyone have some suggestions out of personal experience either to avoid certain makes or ones that work well? I've been looking at some of the Jabra or Plantronics models, but seem to get mixed reviews.

What car do you have....? reason i ask, is because if you drive a car that is noisy when you drive, forget about the "basic clip to your dash type device" that uses 1 tiny little speaker...

I say, either a bluetooth headset, or a bluetooth system that is connected to your car radio so you can hear it properly...

I use a plantronics explorer 220 when I drive my car. Have a friend who uses his on his bicycle... No problems.

I would recommend it as it fits comfortably in my ear, I can go hours with it in my ear.

Parrot offer a Bluetooth device that plugs into lighter and uses car radio for speakers. I have a Nokia Bluetooth device that plugs into lighter and has own speakers but also has a charger for phone. great for GPS

The Parrot ck-3000 series are awesome bluetooth kits! I have a ck3000 model and it works brilliantly

Kinda on-topic....

Been thinking of replacing the complete in-dash-radio.

I assume there are now units that come with a built-in bluetooth car-kit (i.e. as part of the radio itself).

Any ideas / suggestions?

Thanks for all the replies.

I have a older and thus noisier car. I'm not particularly keen on dropping a lot of cash on an complete integrated system till I get round to upgrading my wheels. :)

I had a look at the Plantronics Explorer 230 which is well priced (cellucity R380). It seems some people have reported bad audio quality and others have had no issues.

There is also the Parrot Minikit which looks like a good deal, but I guess road noise might be a problem then?

@v3g take a look at the Parrot Car Audio. Knowing you of course you should be looking at an in car PC rather :D

I have the Sony MEX BT-2600

I'm very happy with it, earlier reviews of the 2500 complained about the other party not hearing you nicely, not had a complaint with this one. I also asked the car audio place that supplied and fitted - they said, they'd fitted a few, with no returns.

It also plays audio from the phone's media player, and when using the GPS therefore, the voice nav comes from the radio.

You can execute voice commands on the phone by pressing the main control.

I love it!
