BMW kills off the i8

BMW has announced that it will halt the production of its i8 hybrid electric vehicle in April 2020.

"When production of the BMW i8 Coupé and the BMW i8 Roadster ceases, the plug-in hybrid sports cars will have long secured their place among the company's milestones," BMW said.

Not Surprised Car could not achieve its claimed fuel consumption. Probably costed more than they made on the car.

Why did they discontinue it?
The article reads like a sales pitch so the content and the headline don't match.

Would be nice if SA had more electric only vehicles.

Then you can use the excuse...."Sorry sir, the ANC government decided that I cannot come in to the office today. I couldn't charge my car. We had load shedding."
