hi , i have just tried to extend my BMW motor plan - last year it was R14392.86 and this year it is R29433.26 - you read right , yes an increase of approx. 104% .
How on earth is this possible?
They tell me they had an increase of 15%, 10% and 1% for vat but how does
that equate to a 104% increase.
IS anyone having the same problem?
BMW needs to be reported Consumer Protection.

Simple, your car is a year older and is, therefore, more likely to break, hence the disproportionate increase. Also on what basis are you going to report BMW? It is a free market and if you are not happy you can exersice other options.
 
Audi wanted to charge me R24k per 20000 kms when the car went over 100000kms and the motorplan expired. The car was only 3 1/2 years old. I decided to rather pay towards a 3rd party warranty and foot the service bills myself.

which third party did you go for ?

I wonder if they will pay out when time comes
 
I had this problem too.
Costs vary depending on model and mileage.
My 320D is now 5 years old and with 45000km on the clock..rather low.
BMW wanted close to R30k for a 2 year motorplan extension.
I went for a BMW extended warranty instead. R13k for 2 years. I'll pay for services etc myself when needed.

Time only, or time and Km?

Km is VERY expensive.
 
Who sells this BMW Broadband? OR am I in the wrong section of the forum again?

Edit: Aha, it was moved. :p
 
Price depends on car and history etc.

Just get extended warranty, it covers major stuff for unlimited amount if you take out the warranty while in motorplan.

Which BMW model you have, year and mileage?


R14392.86 - was this an extension of time or time & mileage?
R29433.26 - is this to extend time, mileage or time & mileage?
 
I got a quote for R140k or something for two years, 40 000km. Almost fell off of my chair. The car is nowhere near hitting that.

You get various 3rd parties. Personally I have used SA Warranties and Motorite. Never had any issues claiming.

Biggest thing is to review what they cover and what not. I have/had warranties on my Disco 3 and Audi.
For the Disco 3 I have paid +/- R35k for a 4 year period (warranties are unlimited kms) and have claimed just over R50k.

Just follow the terms and conditions in terms of servicing at authorised RMI service centres.
 
Additional kilometres (if applicable) : 50 000
Additional Period in Months (if applicable) : 24

TOTAL AMOUNT R 137 454.65

Take the money and put it in a Fixed Deposit account.

Then pay for **** yourself and see how you end up saving.

Even better if you go to a third party specialist.
 
I just checked online quotation for my BMW F83 M4 and its

0 year, 5000km, R7708.73
0 year, 10 000km, R15639.44
0 year, 15 000km, R23787.88
0 year, 20 000km, R32149.77

1 year, 0km, R19499.75
1 year, 5000km, R27670.99
1 year, 10 000km, R36077.55
1 year, 15 000km, R44714.89
1 year, 20 000km, R53578.50

It costs much more when you add kilometers, roughly R1.60/km, for my car.

Back in 2013, Motorite quotation for my BMW E93 335i was

- 24 months, 40 000kms, R69 689
- 36 months, 60 000kms, R104 533
- Bad thing about Motorite is they have exclusions which BMW covers under maintenance plan
 
Hi, what is the difference between BMW warranty 2 year unlimited kms and the motorplan 5 years 100000 kms?
There must be something in there to separate the two, otherwise it would not be listed as two items.

My dad is interested in a 2018 BMW

Thanks, yes, this is quite a nice info, just that BMW, Merc and Audi they all package their warranty and maintenance plan differently, so I am not 100% sure and I dont see the T&Cs of the BMW warranty and Motorplan on the internet. This makes it difficult.

Motorplan covers everything, you just pay for tyres.

Warranty is for when things break, you still need to pay for services and consumables.
