Boeing vs Airbus

I was hoping for a troll. Because the alternative is bad news for you. At least you have the other [-]crazy-pants[/-] visionaries like Patches and Swa to keep you company.

Keep fighting the good fight, one day the world will realise the TRUE EVULS of Airbus manipulating the entire internet, how scientists buried fossils everywhere to make it look like evolution is real, how the gubmint mind controls everyone with chemtrails and how Bush did 9/11 with the help of the Jews.

I am Boeing all the way. Been up close and personal with both the A380 as well as the 747-400, the Boeing still does it for me. While the A380 is a technologically advanced aircraft, the 747 has curves in all the right places.

I don't really care which one has had the most accidents or technical failures, that happens with any machine. I would say that both manufacturers build their aircraft to high standards (mostly, if not completely, legislated so they have no choice anyway). Was the Germanwings Airbus brought down due to multiple-systems failure, I don't know, but it is one of the many possible scenarios.

I am also a fan of Embraer, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, they also make some good looking machines (ala ERJ).

i generally find boeing a little quieter than airbus

i fly quite a bit, different airlines, different countries, different aircraft.
but i usually sit in the same spot (as far as possible) & have my seat pre-booked (again, where possible).

as an example - - on saa locally (airbus), i take 1C (1st row on the aisle, so i can usually be last on & 1st off).
so sitting in pretty much the same spot one probably becomes a little more aware of the differences between aircraft.

however, this is a whole lot more civilized:

I am sure that you will have others that say the Airbus is quieter. People perceive things differently. I am 90% sure that the A320Neo with the Pratt & Whitney engine option will kick the 737 in the panty when it comes to noise. I admittedly have not flown on a Airbus A320 for ages, seeing that unlike you that can fly on privte jets, I am a armgat and fly LCC, and all of ours fly the 737.

The new A320s are indeed quieter than the older 737s, esp. the older -200s like Air Zim used to bring into Jhb. Always knew when they were landing/taking off above any others. However the new 737s are pretty much on par with the A320s (according to my ear, NOT sensitive testing equipment!). As for the heavies, found the Airbuses quieter than the Boeings.

These Airbusses. Damn it...

They seem to be dropping like flies now. Do we have another Concorde on our hands here?

Concorde? What was wrong with Concorde? It had one fatal accident, and that was due to a American made plane dropping a piece of metal onto the runway.

That was also an "Airbus" as it was serviced by them. They Airbus then said they won't service it no more and numbers went down due to the 200 or 1999 crash iirc. But it was Airbus that actually caused it to be retired.

Aha, found it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concorde
Concorde was retired in 2003 due to a general downturn in the aviation industry after the type's only crash in 2000, the 11 September terrorist attacks in 2001, and a decision by Airbus, the successor firm of Aérospatiale and BAC, to discontinue maintenance support.
