Bogus Telkom techies on the prowl

This has been a problem and an MO of criminals since I was a wee lightie.

*-IDEA-*

Perhaps teklom can replace that fantastic hold music of theirs and instead point out these oh so useful security tips.
We could even hold a memorial service for the old tune, and give it away as a memorial special ringtone.

Would that perhaps make them more customer centric?

Doesn't bother me.

I get ripped off and robbed far more my telkom themselfs than anyone could ever take from me masquerading as such! :D
 
Telkom dont need to go to the doors... they use the postman to extort money from clients... err... victims
 
I educated my domestic worker longtime ago. I'll tell her when I expect any person/company no matter what. If I didn't tell her I am expecting someone they can just sit outside at the gate and wait for me if they are prepared to do so or phone me
 
People who have not requested any service from Telkom should be particularly wary.

As if people would believe Telkom showed up without being asked four or five times?
 
Telkom had taken the correct step by informing the public at first opportunity.

Praise them , spare the image.:)

Well I still feel issues like this can be easily avoided if Telkom (ie. a multi-billion Rand TeleCOMMUNICATIONS company) that purports to be Proudly South African, actually ups their customer service and calls the customer beforehand to make an appointment (be it for fault repairs, new installations, needing access to PABX for some legitimate reason, etc.). This way if anyone pitches up without said appointment, the client can call the cops and have the imposters arrested. The bonus - criminals are stopped in their tracks.

Sadly, this would mean that Customer Service is taken seriously in this country :p
 
I would prefer these techies, they would take me for less of a ride.

As opposed to the usual suspects (Telkom) who steal our money, freedom and opportunity in this country?
 
They don't even show up when called so what makes anybody think they would show up on thier own. Just shows how uneducated people still are. So these people are who exactly? These Telkom uniforms steal our goods and the other uniforms steal our money so we have to pawn our goods. not much difference there. I hope they show up here so I can call the cops as either way they will arrest a criminal. There's not even a telephone LMAO.

Hehe yes seeing a Telkom techie always makes me wanna call the cops (even a hitman). One thing is for sure, Telkom does not own the country (even though they think they do), so if a Telkom techie pitches for no good reason and wants to check out the PABX, well lets just say he won't be invited in ;)

Telkom have rung me five times in the last week to check my ADSL order details and checking again and again whether I'm sure that I want to do a self install... They seem to be desperate to send me an engineer so perhaps there are lots of engineers available :)

Heard this on the news as well....Good to inform people out there that they need to be on the lookout...
 
Hhehehehehehe..I am a paranoid bastard and have read many things like this one. I am pretty sure that in my lifetime I have been particularly rude to actual technicians etc. I have told the follwoing people to **** off and die:

A SABC TV license inspector (some dude came to the door and asked whether we have an tv license.... I told him where to go and what to do while there)

A Telkom technician who wanted to check something when I never logged a fault. I told him that his dead mother is in hell and was kind enough to inform him what she does for fun while down there - heheheheh over the

Mormons
Jehova's Winesses _ I told them that my god would kick their god's ass

But just generally I have been made very wary by articles such as these and I would refuse to let even a policeman inot my house unless he had a warrant!

And they need to be paid. That is why your Telkom bill will still reflect an ADSL installation fee after doing a self-install. You will then have to fight and fight to have the charge removed.

Fighting off a bogus techie might just be easier.
