Hi,

I am the user of a Talk500 contract. The phone is not in my name, but in the name of the business. I would like to make use of the internet (at times) without the hassle of having a monthly data bundle. I tried to add some data (once off) via FNB, but I get an error: invalid phone number.

I spoke to Vodacom and I was told that I cannot add a once off Data bundle since it is not Top-up or pre-paid. They can add a bundle from me on their side, but then I must sent them a fax with a official request on the company's letterhead (apparently every time I want to add a bundle, but this should not be a big problem), but the amount will be added to the monthly contract (which is a problem). We are not allowed to go over the standard monthly bill. It is a bit of a hassle to sort that out. I would rather prefer to simply buy the data from my side and add it. Is it really not possible to buy an add-on bundle with a Talk500 contract? It seems a bit strange, really. I hope someone can give me a bit more info.

Thanks

Ok imagine the contract was in your name and then someone went and added a bundle to your account without your permission ? :wtf:

I have permission to do this, so that is not the problem. I am not trying to add a monthly data bundle. I am trying to add a once off bundle, so as not to incur additional charges the company must pay for. :)

Vodacom will always require asigned letter head for any kind of activations to your line , this is to avoid any kind of fraudulent activations and to protect both parties.

When activating the adhoc bundle , which is a once off bundle you will still be charged to the account.

Regards

You could probably use something like GConnect. They have a private APN on which you can buy your own data that does not charge against the contract. The FAQ suggests you can use your existing SIM.
