Booze ban for new drivers

Remember that your BA lvls drop 0.1% every hour after you stop drinking.

So for instance after a 3 drinks your lvls will be averaged at about 0.7%. If you want to legally drive then your gonna have to wait about 2 hours before you can legally drive...

I thought the legal limit was 0.05% not 0.5%?

Really terrible, I don't know how people can justify driving drunk when these sort of things happen.

Thats correct plus there is a 0.02% limit for professional drivers.

Probably, its amazing how people try and justify their actions.

Yes - i accept that the driver was over the limit, all i ask for is evidence of a connection between that fact and the accident. I am not trying to justify anything, from the story as printed i see no evidence of a connection. There are no eye witness statements that the driver was driving erraticially, all i read is that people crossing a road were hit by a car, perhaps the people crossing the road were at fault and the fact that the driver of the car was over the limit is coincidental.

They potentially were also at fault, but alcohol severely impacts your reflexes and ability to maintain your attention. On top of that the more alcohol people drink the more reckless they get. It is highly unlikely that alcohol was not a major factor.

Maybe, just maybe, if people in South Africa had the smallest respect for the law (like STOPping at a STOP street), we can start to think about an Autobahn.

Or red robots. Autobahn is a different story. The roads with have to populated with vehicles in good condition and drivers with some skill in operating those vehicles. Much higher testing standards and mandatory advanced driver training.

Do people REALLY use the designated driver thing?

Yes. If you can't arrange one, then you call a taxi, use whatever public transport is available or drink at home.

Even if the people were crossing the road were at fault a sober driver would've been in a better position to react quickly and take corrective action to avoid them.
