I've been thinking about taking up a new hobby, considered the whole karate thing but everyone is doing it, so I came up with boxing!:D

I would just like to do it as a fun activity, nothing serious.
Would like to know from anyone here who has done/is doing boxing what I will need to start with, how intense it really gets, how was/is the experience and if you know of any good places I can check out in Cape Town.

Dankie Baie almal!:)

Dragon Power

Why not take up muay thai at Dragon power in cape town. Who better than Quentin Chong as your instructor :) Checkout their website www.dragonpower.co.za for the location and more info. Good Luck!

If you want, I can put you in touch with a good female boxing instructor. PM me if you're interested...

I'd like to watch two females boxing... Then wrestle... Then... Well erm, you know what :D

did you watch that muay tai on channel 106 with those 16 over weight guys? that was quite good i enjoyed it.

I have no idea what muay thai is, will google it now lol.:D

The pics on the website look intense though.
Do you know someone who does muay thai? What's it like?

Very much so. These people are intense though they take their sport very serious, and don't take kindly to slackers. Which is great as it pushes you to the end every session.

I actually want something really intense.
where do you do it?

Don't go to Quentin Chong's studio. He is an overpriced fraud. (World Champion in a made up tournament.)

Find a proper jojo.

Boxing is cool but the aim is to beat the snot out of each other so it does get intense.

Try the military boxing gym at Wynberg Military base chicken. Great place to start - instructors are very proffessional and welcoming for beginners and those just wanting to get into the fitness side of boxing.

Vic Botes also runs a nice club in Sea Point ... can't remember the name of the club but it's in St James road

Sounds cool, I'll find out about it!

Thanks! :)
