Boy’s 3-year racist hell

He probably has one period a week with the teacher and you guys want him to leave the school. I would hardly call one period a week hell.

Let the parents buy the kid an instrument so he can practice at home. Problem solved.

Yes, but on MyBB if he was white then this thread would be ten pages already

Rubbish... a kid is a kid... and any kind of abuse generates significant drama.
But we don't know yet if the kid is just spinning stories, or if he has a legitimate complaint.
Strange that the kid would slam his own hand in a car door.
In my experience, kids who hurt themselves are usually crying out for attention.
But the simple fact is... we don't know yet.

Well 10 pages or 1 page does not matter to me , as long as there are people out there that cares bru. I really think we are all too harped on this race thing in everything we do.

Its like my friend who supports the All Blacks and Hates the Boks but cheers when Habana scores a try , I ask him WTF and he reckons cos Habana is Black. Eish , the irony of calling others prejudice is lost on him.

let me just give you something to think about.

take a piece of paper and crumple it up. now try and get those wrinkles and creases out. you can't. those wrinkles and creases represents the scars that every child who has ever been bullied, will carry for the rest of their lives. those scars will never ever go away, just like that piece of paper. you can't heal those scars.

think before you say or do is all i'm saying.

and let the teacher find another kid to insult and call a c***ie. or k***e etc etc. why must the child be the one to suffer if the teacher is the one who has some problem, but vice versa maybe the kids making the stuff up as mentioned the article is one sided but if its true you never let a bullie get away with it be it a teacher or a kid.
from the kids (especialy at a young age) perspective and adult insulting you like that really is hell. it really takes a toll emotionally -trust me

from what i gather the teacher had a problem with the red string the kid wore (which is religios not cultural) and and its not against the schools dress policy. Speculation here What if it was a cross would the result be the same?

Trust me I agree with what you say , its just that we don't know the whole story yet. If we are to believe everyone every time they make a claim the world would be in chaos , All we are saying is let the process take its course and then we can make a better judgement.

The entire article is speculation at this stage.

I hate to say this but I agree with Gary (OMG what a moment , I think I just threw up a little in my mouth).

It's OK... I also have those moments... the feeling usually goes away after a few valiums.! ;)

Its not a cultural thing , its a religious thing. I am not educated enough to say whether it is something he can do without but surely a red piece of string is not that bad ? I reckon the one thing SA is lacking is diversity and tolerance.

Will wait to hear both sides of the story first though. I realize that kids can be tough and out of hand but geez this is a 9 year old boy. Discipline might be lacking as we as today's parents are often too blame for that but I don't think it can justify such remarks if true.

I agree, but the article specifically says he used the "it's my cultrure" excuse. Not that it's relevant anyway, whatever your culture or religion is, you should follow the same rules as everybody else. I don't know the specifics either or how big or small the band was, it's just the principle that telling him to follow the rules that everyone else does, isn't any reason to blame the teacher.

But absolutely the department/principal should investigate thouroughly and get to the bottom of it all. As others have said, yes some teachers can be complete *******s and bullies (I've had a few of those myself), but kids can be absolute terrors as well especially if there's no discipline at home. What makes me wonder is the claim that this has been going on for 3 years. Why didn't they report the teacher to the department much sooner if he/she was such a monster? Of course this doesn't mean the teacher is innocent, it just means they need to look into it more.

This article is nothing but sensationalist bull.

Honestly, if a teacher where to treat my child like that I wouldn't put up with it for 3 years. I wouldn't put up with it for 3 months. I would have moved my child to another school or not stopped until the teacher was fired. Or both.

my bullsh'tometer is red lining.

Well let's see if the teacher does come forward (I doubt it). Hopefully this story will make any other students threatened by this teacher come forward.

Always three sides to a story, his side, her side & the truth.

If it's true then both teacher & headmaster should be fired.

I dont think the lad understand the diffs between Culture and religion .

The pupil was wearing a red string around his wrist as part of his Hindu religion.

However, when the boy said he was not allowed to take it off as it was part of his culture

While he refers to Culture , His parents refers to it as part of their Religion. All he knows is that he must not take it off as per his parents/religious teacher instructions.

"According to the boy’s father, the most recent incident occurred last month when the teacher called the child “deaf, dumb or stupid” after his father had complained to the principal that the teacher had verbally abused him."

I was hurt.

They are not allowed to name the teacher... but they will give you an exact location and job of the teacher which can be easily used to find out who it is.

And to let the child endure 3 years of abuse? Ish

And if it's not true?

At my school we have had plenty of cases where the parents lie and fabricate stories just as much as the child.
