UPDATE: Man accused of shooting child after mistaking him for a monkey named in court

The court decided there was enough ‘substantial evidence’ to proceed with a murder charge.

UPDATE: Tuesday, 2pm

THE 87-year-old man who allegedly mistook a 12-year-old boy for a monkey has appeared in court.

An eNCA TV camera crew and other media gathered outside the the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court waiting for Phelamandla Myeza to make an appearance.

Earlier today, a court official said there was ‘a lack of evidence’ and that the possibility of the case not proceeding was very likely.

However, come 1pm, further investigations revealed that there was enough substantial evidence to proceed.

Myeza was informed that, should the matter proceed to trial, he could face a minimum sentence of five years’ imprisonment.

He applied for a Legal Aid attorney to represent him when he appears in court again tomorrow (Wednesday).

Is there any predators left that can eat these monkeys? They can easily become a terrible problem. They eat eggs and birds and other small animals nice animals that does not cause problems.

Ok so wait, I'll be the one to ask...

Will this now change since a black man also mistook a kid for a monkey? Where are all the people saying it's a racial issue shooting people by accident mistaken them for some kind of animal? Where are the SJWs and lefties now?

Still the same? And there is no justification the shooter is still giulty of culpable homicide even though it was an accident(not murder). The only people having a problem is those wanting a racial incident.

Agreed, no one is disputing that. However, it proves that these kind of things happen. It's a race thing...

What makes you think he'll get off or only serve short time? If anything it's been white farmers who have received rather lenient sentences from the courts for killing people on their farms.
