My god that's a world record bad design.
Yip, shoudl be easy to rectify though. Remove one row of bricks towards the top, place small stainlees 'awning' on outside. Should create a draught that pulls the smoke through.

Nope, have checked for any Santa type issues.
The main issues as far as I can tell are:
1. The flute is large enough, but restricted by the size of the hole in the concrete slab as well as the concrete roof.
2. There is no "vane" / canopy that collects the smoke and channels it up and out.
3. The open area to the front is too large.
and then some.
I am looking for an experience professional to install something that works properly.
Its been a while since I posted to this thread and in the meantime I have made a plan that seems to be working very well so far.
I will take some pictures and elaborate once I have the pics.

You will have noticed that we have offered advice pointing to other companies too. We are here for advice purposes only. In fact I did try to remove a previous response referring to our site but to no avail. We are all braai lovers and that is the point of this thread.
