Seems Vumatel is going to start laying fibre. We're on their coverage map.

SADV is rolling out in Brakpan at the moment. Civils will be done in Sonneveld this week and they are doing 3 more complexes in Graaf & West street. (All the sonneveld extentions). TT Connect were also busy with signups in the area, but I'm rather glad we went with SADV in Sonneveld and not with them.

Tbh I'd much rather go with TT Connect than Vumatel. Looks like there may be some overlap but don't know if/when I'll ever have coverage.

Shame, it must be so terrible getting fibre while many other areas will probably never get fibre.

Vumatel is one of the most expensive and anti-competitive.
I thought ISP end user pricing was pretty comparable between the different FNO's, with ISP's on Openserve being the most expensive? I curious as your comment is the first such I've ever come across.

I checked a couple and it's not. Vuma is also 4/1 and asymmetric where most offer you 10/10 and symmetric. But it's the R999 connection fee that's ridiculous. I shouldn't have to pay more than my monthly when switching or suspending the service once it's installed.

Stop complaining about getting fibre.
Stop being so complacent with breadcrumbs. What's your horse in the race in any case? Please stop derailing this thread.

Just out of interest, why do you have such a bee in your bonnet about everything related to Vumatel?

Most people are starting to get that "bee in their bonnet" but ISPs are actively driving business to other providers now. As it happens what I said about Vumatel is starting to happen. If people aren't careful we'll be sitting with a situation where we are fighting against the high prices of Vumatel and not Telkom. That is already happening.

That's bizarre.

Vuma run a ptp network with symmetrical offering. Openserve offer an asymmetrical connection due to the IPC, we offer a symmetrical connection via PON. TT Connect also offer ptp symmetrical, but have the most issues (according to the social media) and the least ISP's on the network. TT also seems to have the highest installation fees (in the region of R3-4k for free standing homes if Lakefield Benoni is anything to go by). Both ourselves and Vuma have a standard R1.5k installation fee to free standing homes, which a lot of the ISP's are paying for you.

I will have Vuma at work and SADV at home soon. What I can see from the install process, is that Vuma manages their process better than SADV (Referring to civils). They came through Dalpark like a small tornado and within 3 weeks, most of their civil work are done.

On the other side, SADV keeps in contact with their contractors and you can talk to them and get hold of them. With Vuma, that is impossible. Trying to get hold of a manager or someone that can alter something on their process just doesn't happen. I have been on the phone with them for nearly a day in order to get them to manage the process in trenching through my business park driveway.

Eventually I had to threaten the contractors to get them to leave the customers some way to access the business park and do it in stages so we are not cut off for 2 days while they trench and rehabilitate. (We have concrete driveway with trucks access the entrance).

SADV have now been busy in Sonneveld for nearly 3 months (Using Motheo) and have still not finished the civils and will likely only start floating the fibre this week. I expect Vuma to be up and running before SADV and SADV had a 2.5 month lead. Some of the civil work still do not have wayleafs, so at this stage it is unknown as to when the civils will be done.

Either way, it is an interesting and frustrating process overall.
