Brand new Car. Help me decide?

Understandably, but you will feel short changed going from a fiesta st to an entry level small hatch. Maybe take a one year old and rather add some extended warranty. This should give you peace of mind in terms of cost.

Buy the new yaris 1.5L, toyota's last forever!

Suzuki ignis is good also, can't go wrong with jap cars.
 
The Fiesta ST must have been a cool car to drive.

I don't think you will like the Up,Aygo,Sandero etc..It just seems like a big downgrade.

The 2018 model Suzuki Swift will launch mid year in SA.Negotiate with dealership and get current shape Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6

Get an aftermarket android auto unit from Amazon or Raru ,if it is a must have and update unit in Swift.

And the Up! is an upgrade over the Picanto and Sandero.

Dude, if you want to give some one kak, go do it in another thread. I didn't break anything. I looked after my car. Mine, it seems, wasn't bullet proof.

I'm sure it is, and coming from a Sandero he would love the up. But not coming from a Fiesta ST. Most of the small cars in that price range will depress him (probably), for that price I would take a slightly used Polo Tsi comfortline rather and add a long extended warranty and service plan.

The list is very long. On 48k KM, I had to do cam belt (under warranty), on 66k KM the car broke down and Ford said it was only the water bottle that needed to be replaced (under warranty), on 80k KM the head gasket blew and since the car wasn't under warranty anymore, due to it being serviced at BCS, Ford didn't want to help. Since then it has been the one thing after the other and now I have to replace the head, quoted R33k by Ford.

Apologies for my rude reply, but I have had such bad luck with my car and I have resorted to borrowing money, as I just don't cash anymore for the repairs. Not an excuse for my behavior though. :(

As for the other comments about me not going to like the downgrade, I have been driving a I10 Grand and New Figo for the past 3 months and have had to learn to cope with the slow cars.

In SA, we get the Ignis models built in India, but with different trim level specifications to the models for the Indian market.

The Indian-spec is known as Maruti Suzuki Ignis. It was launched as a replacement of the Maruti Ritz. It is powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine that churns about 75bhp of power and 190Nm of peak torque.

This is the same engine powers the Swift and the Baleno, however the body weight of the Ignis is lesser. This is due to the use of an all new platform. The company has confirmed that it is a modular platform and more engines shall be made on it.

The other engine offered with the India-spec car is a 1.2-litre K-series unit that develops 82bhp and 113 Nm of torque.

Both these engines are available with either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The Japanese-spec Ignis that was available in Japan, Australia and New Zealand were assembled in Japan and were powered with a 1.2-Litre K-series unit that develops 88bhp (66kw) of power and 120Nm of peak torque, that's 6bhp (5kw) and 7 Nm of torque more than in the Indian-made Ignis. The transmission available is a five-speed manual or CVT rather than the Suzuki AMT gearbox (Auto Gear Shift/AGS).

The UK and Euro-spec Ignis is offered with two versions of the 1.2 L K12C I4 engine: a standard petrol and a hybrid with lithium-ion batteries fitted under the seats.
