Branson gets wrong number

Going to have a couple less VM customers soon just because people can't change their package once they are a VM customer. It's a pity, but what can one do.

Maybe he should have danced like JZ instead of jumping of buildings. Dancing like JZ seems to work better.

I went and got me a Virgin SIM card a week after it became available in my area - then threw it away the same day when I realised they didn't have 3G...

Its scary seeing how many people didnt pay their credit card bills :O
70000 people and you can just wonder how much money is owed to virgin atm

Spose he forgot how it works: Have a much better offering than the competitors (which they don't) and make sure people know about it (no such luck). Maybe he was just a bit arrogant in thinking that the Virgin brand means automatic success to us "Hillbillies" in SA. Sorry man, we know better, we do our homework, and no amount of jumping off buildings will deter us from the fact that your product sux!

Can't say I feel sorry for them - their advertising campaign was just so blatantly "money buys you happiness".

i thought the same, he didnt set up properly, wheres the virgin adsl satelite cell phone landline packages, he just set up the credit system and cell phones - lazy

I was with Virgin Mobile for a few months and hated it. Wasn't really cheaper for my usage and the network and staff I dealt with are terrible. I am now with MTN and pretty happy compared to Virgin. I have a Virgin Credit Card and am pretty happy with it...

“His high-profile publicity stunts don’t impress the SA public as much as a clear, cheap and solid up-front offering.”

Yep, hope the other international companies are taking notes....we dont care wether Mandela is the CEO, if the price vs service aint right we wont bite

Even I can see that the new CEO is heading for a concrete wall

” Focus is the post-paid consumer market and the upper end of the pre paid market. “

Upper end of prepaid users are not going to settle for EDGE

Wow i hated the few months i was on VM everything about it sucked, the idea seems sound but in practise its just plain bad value for my good money.

Have a Virgin credit card and i'm very happy with it, it replaced my absa one and i'm not looking back

Agree, Cell-C has it down... just do what they do

How does this work?

“The market norm [for bad debt] was running around 9% of book and we were seeing 14%-15%.”

It has about 120 000 active customers. A further 70 000 are in collections or have been handed over to lawyers.

70000/120000 = 58%
