BREAKING: Prosecutor Gerrie Nel quits

Based on his preconceived ideas of what liberals stand for. There wasn't much of that screeching from the liberals, he must be disappointed
The liberal values I stand for are genuine liberal values. Not the identity politics ridden nonsense that is currently associated with the term.

Think Milton Friedman as opposed to Eusebius McOxford...

As for the screeching:

#GerrieNel is an SA treasure, the reason many baddies are in jail. But fact he's joined the fundamentally divisive @afriforum, simply stinks
Sad, sad day to see a dedicated, well-loved prosecutor like #GerrieNel quit the NPA to join a divisive organisation like @afriforum.
What shocks me is that we still get shocked by white people being white #GerrieNel

Spot on!
Afriforum's image hurts this team. However, they can salvage the situation by bringing in high quality black prosecutors and putting them at the forefront of this team along with Nel.

Uhm fronting would be one of the things that they are against.

You define that as screeching?

If you do the see Afriforum as a divisive organisation as posted there, you have your head in the sand.

And would you define my and OD's post earlier on this thread as screeching too?

Huff Post saying Afriforum are SA's version of the alt-right.... *facepalm*

You define that as screeching?
It is a bit of a meme that is going around. Something like this was bound to ruffle feathers. Instead of being actual liberals and respecting his choice, they complain about how this is a bad thing for this country.

Lets see:

Not a bad thing, provided they comply with the law in how they approach things. Getting someone with that experience and expertise will help.

Hopefully they can kick some asses and make things happen. I like it when AfriForum takes on civil society issues, like the Tshwane smart meter rollout.

I don't have an issue with this. A lot of prosecutions in by the NPA are overly decided on power and race. Everyone needs to be treated equally .

Good luck to him, hope it helps the country

No. Because you guys at least respect his choice in the matter, regardless of what you might think of Afriforum.

You want an organisation that is fighting affirmative action, to hire people based on their skin colour:

What you should have said:

What matters more? Taking up and winning cases that help South Africans, or just do like the ANC does and put window dressing up.
Ok, fair enough konfab, you have a point, it would be window dressing, and an organisation such as Afriforum shouldn't have to implement the very things they fight against to gain more public support / a better image.

Who took Tshwane metro to court over the flawed PEU prepaid power contract that is costing the metro R4 million per day, that even national treasury warned them about?

Is it the Hawks? Is the National Treasury? Is it the ANC? Is it the DA?

No, it's Afrisake and Afriforum.

They could always hire Shaun Abrahams

Same old same old AWB bullsheit ... supremacists masquerading as champions of the constitution yearning to create a separatist parallel state. Bunch of nut-jobs. Private prosecutions se pos! Prosecute that!

There will come a time in your country when people like you will want to have a "Afriforum" (or someone with integrity) who will watch over the dictators and corruption and and and. Guess what? Nobody will give a sheit. Because no one will be left. Look at the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa. You are getting there. Afriforum will slow down things but YOU are getting there. Wait for president Malema and then we talk again ....

Getting where exactly?

Getting where exactly?

ZIM2.0

I don't see any state or black civil institutions fight the blatant corruption, for example the PEU prepaid metering contract in Tshwane? That R4 million PER DAY that the now DA controller metro has to pay could rather been used on the poor and service delivery.

Or you just dying to have your moment, since the dawn of democracy you've been harping on, don't you get tired?

ANC municipalities have been robbing you dry

Mayor Herman Mashaba said the total balance for unauthorised expenditure under the ANC regime in the city reached R3.4 billion.

“A shocking lack of attention to financial management practices resulted in a failure to adequately investigate cases of unauthorised, irregular, and fruitless and wasteful expenditure,” said Mashaba.
