Bring it on

AS SOUTH AFRICA'S telecommunications market gradually opens up, another alternative telco launched last week promising aggressive pricing - with claimed savings of up to 85% - and unique benefits, mainly to companies.

There are no lock-in contracts: the service is on a month-to-month basis, and can be cancelled with a 30-day notice period. However, clients that do agree to use PrimeTel for a fixed term (18 months to receive the biggest discount) and pay by direct deposit, can get additional discounts of up to 5% on certain services
mmm nice!

What do these actually offer?

And when someone calls you what are the charges, probably pretty expensive considering they can afford to pay you when you receive calls.

Where are the telcos that offer Carrier Preselect where you can have a normal number not a 0870 etc or whatever the numbers start with.

Primetel

Sounds good. But you still need an adsl line which is expensive. Need to get past the need for a broadband line or else get the prices down to under R 100.00 per month inclusive of at least 1 GB on a 512 K line. I think it could definitely work tho' for businesses which have a broadband hookup.

sounds exactly like Skype except very few people has this product where as millions use skype so the 'free on net calls' will be less of an appeal than skype free calls?

Too early to say what's going for what.

But if you still have to use telkomadsl in order to make use of this service, then it does not make sense.

The primary goal is to escape from telkom... but, if I understand correctly, you'll still need to be shackled to telkom if you want to use their services.

Kinda like saying you want to emit 0% vehicle emissions, yet you go ride on a bus. :D

If you need ASDL its something like: Here sir take your Ferrari for only R200/m but please remember you need to petrol for it at R500/l.:(

Call me when we can save 85% of installation and operating costs, i.e. one each and every call, including cell phones.

Blaaa, Bla, Blaa

If you look at their Number allocted, they are using vox. So they are nothing more than a resller.

and rebating costs on incomming calls. i take it thats being passed on to the calling party?
