Bring on the Shamatank!

Well an equivalent geared/skilled rogue will almost always out dps an equivalent geared/skilled druid. There are some fights when the druid might have a slight advantage (Sapphiron was my fight for beating rogues on) but in general rogues out dps druids. If you are not seeing that in your guild - it means you have a difference in gear between the two or you have an exceptional druid and/or a sub par rogue. That said in my experience feral druids have relatively high dps for hybrids.

Once you start to add up the 5-10% difference between pure dps class and equivalent hybrids - it actually makes a difference having 10 or so pure dps over the additional hybrids in a raid. In later fights in ICC and in hard modes every little bit of additional dps helps make the fights easier.

Perhaps all of those DK's and Paladins should start tanking a bit
You can't really blame retnoobs/dps-dk's for not tanking. The problem isn't with them, but the role. For most people, it's just not fun. Doesn't matter what class you are. You could make the same claim about fury/arms warrs and cat druids. Muscling dps plate into tanking would be the same as forcing all those elemental shamans/boomkins to heal.
Personally the reason i don't tank any more is threefold. 1:I don't need to any more since i don't need to farm Triumph badges, 2:Raids don't need me to tank, so I'm not needed in that role and 3:I enjoy occasional PVP so my second spec is being used for that.
My advice is if you really start getting annoyed by the lack of tanks, roll one yourself. You'll probably figure out pretty soon why there aren't more of them around.

I agree with the post by Skurm, specially point 2, I'm sure you know by know, if you have 1 slip on aggro or DPS dies due to AOE and YOU didn't move the boss, you get so much bad mouthing is not even funny, yesterday I got home did 1 hc, and the DPS was so rude and crap to me that I just did that 1 hc logged off and played PS3 for the rest of the day.

Ppl are to chilled to care about aggro or tacts, the TANK should do everything, pick up range caster, move the boss from melee dps when AOE, interrupt spell casting. DPS just stand in 1 spot, hit a few buttons and spam DPS meter after.

Point is Tanking is not rewarding anymore, you get to much crap.

I tank only for my guild now and do no more pugs.

I pug with dps only

My druid is resto/feral dps spec so I mostly just heal using the LFG finder - couldn't be assed to wait however long it takes to get a group as dps.

^This. Tanking seems either to be either faceroll easy (when everyone's doing their job) or keyboard-breakingly frustrating (when they aren't, 9/10 times this is the case). Which has actually resulted in the reverse effect of tanks quitting the role rather than signing up. See, tanks are no longer frustrated by encounters, but rather other people. And that's a surefire way to result in mass emoragequits.

Yea LFG as DPS takes long, but I chill level proffs or do dailies, fishing, cooking... ^_^.

But tanking, NO, I will not do anymore for pugs, I love it but NO, pugs will give me a hart attack ^_^ Its just to frustrating like Skurm says if they don't know what they are doing, and it is 99% of the time.

Would be AWESOME if Cata brings back CC.

I enjoy tanking with all the noobs. Every run I learn something new and have a laugh. It may be a bit sad that myself as warrior tank have 80% of the time higher dps than pure dps classes though.

I have no problem tanking, I mean people do stuff up all the time and I just laugh at them and then at the end wait for them to get rezzed then life goes on. Hell last night I had no healer half way through the 1st and 2nd boss in PoS, and no the healer didn't have aggro.

1st boss. He gets feared into soulstorm and then kept on standing there, hell its a druid he could hot and run. Still I finished the fight alive the and DPS pala rezzed him.

2nd boss. Boss does that purple thing then starts turning, how hard is it to stand behind the boss? Well he and the DPS pala died, I survived mostly because I can interupt the boss's most hard hitting spell or spell reflect it when that is up. Other than that I have more than enough avoidance.

When run ended, I just said well that was one of the more funnier runs.

Another run I had healer had some fight with a dps, and then when I said lets go on he turned around said ok I am not healing you anymore. Guess what, it was simple, I just left and joined next instane 10 seconds later.

Its pretty easy as a tank, if people give you ****, just leave and join another. Not very hard to get away from frustrating people.

With the 30 minute 'deserter' debuff lately, that's a little harder to get away with than before.

When did it change to 30min? I am sure thats only in the next patch and as such not really a problem yet. I am pretty sure it was monday that I left on the 15min mark to get a new group.

When faced with an epicfail pug i'd rather log an alt which still needs a randomhc. Once that's done your main's good to go again.

I did HoL last night with some guys from magtheridon, there was this bad mouthing resto shaman with crap gear. He couldn't even keep himself healed, we start the run encounter and i switch to SoC get all the mob and he starts telling me i dont have agro.. mmm lets see, if you stand next to me and im facing the mob away from the group and this monster is spewing green ****. Perhaps move? anyways. We kicked him from the group, i switched to seal of light, judged light, and told the rogue and hunter to md and tricks on me, and i healed myself the rest of the instance. We had to redo that encounter again. Pugging is fine, some groups are amazing some are terrible. I have had a mix match of both.

As for not enough tanks, perhaps its server based because i find there is alot of tanks on Laughing skull.

I still want my shamatank.

Either that or remove the tanking talents from my enhancement tree so I can actually have more dps talents to choose from.

.. and yes.. a druid is mediocre dps. Compare a top dps mage to a top dps druid and the druid will be mediocre :D

Dont elemental shamans out dps feral druids?

I dunno hey dude ... kitty dps is pretty hectic atm. :(

Skurm knows this kinda stuff! Where is he when you need him :D I often see the elemental shamans pulling 11k dps in our guild and from what I understand... we are pink pansies compared to a group I would imagine semaphore in.

To be honest, we dont have druid dps. We have druid heals and tanking... they dont feature as dps in our raids.

This is why i q in lfg as dps, I cba to tank for random retards, my guild retards are good enough

Learn a bit about the class before slandering it, because you are clearly talking out your a$$. I've seen druid DPS kick rogue dps, and this guy was the best geared rogue on the realm, and he knew how to play. Im not all pro druid i dont even play one. Just calling a class mediocre if you have not even seen a good one is rather short sighted. If anything shaman dps is crappy. I've seen enough of those classes to see that. The list in order i would say would be Rogue-> Hunter-> Ret -> Shadow, you can slot in a dk there some where.

In his defense, we play on a very low pop. server and exposure to genuine top class/geared players is limited. Most kitty dps in pugs I've been with are meh at best ... which is why I was so taken back when one was sitting less than 200 dps below me at close to 7k in VoA with gear much lower than mine.
