British series, mini-series and dramas .....

Noooo, so how long do e have to wait for Season 7 ?

Seeing as this season is done do we have any clue as to the moustache ? Pre-publicity seemed to imply it would be revealed during the season...

Morse was 33 regular episodes and Endeavour is 26 so far.

As far as the spoiler is concerned, I only have one word; 1970s.

"Unfortunately, history has proven that the combination of critical acclaim and strong viewing figures for a popular series are never a guarantee for its recommissioning. Thankfully, those two criteria still seem to matter in most cases, as British broadcaster ITV has announced that Endeavour season 7 will film later this year for a 2020 transmission.

Writer/Creator Russell Lewis, who has written all 27 episodes of the first six seasons of Endeavour to date, revealed that the next installment will be set in 1970 and “take Endeavour Morse and Oxford’s Finest into a new decade of decimalization, package holidays, the Oil Crisis, Blackouts, Three Day Weeks, and Europa Endlos.”

BBC has launched a new channel called BBC Scotland and it's showing an Scottish old classic comedy/drama called Tutti Frutti. It stars Robbie Coltrane and Emma Thompson with a perfect Scottish accent. You can get it on the iPlayer but it's one episode a week over the next 6 weeks. The first one is there now and I just watched it. It's a bit grainy and of course 4:3, but you quickly forget that as it's a great fun watch.

Do they have Taggart ?

No, that’s on STV, the Scottish bit of ITV. But the STV catch up has an absolute shed load of Taggart episodes as well as Rebus and a few other interesting old shows iirc. I watched the Rebus ones recently and they do tend to over do it on the ads, not sure if it’s the same with Taggart though.

Just checked, STV has got 27 series of Taggart available for instant gratification :p

VPN or DNS needed obviously.

Edit: oh, and watch Tutti Frutti, you’ll enjoy it :)

I just want to watch the ones with Mark McManus as Taggart, so 11 series and a bit.

Seeing as though New Zealand is part of the commonwealth;

Fresh Eggs

A black comedy with a deliciously twisted sense of humour, this six-part drama follows a couple's quest for "the good life" that goes wickedly awry. Penny (Chitham, Shortland Street, Outrageous Fortune) and Wade (Holloway, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Eagle vs Shark) crave a peaceful, picture-perfect existence. But when they make the move to the small town of Alberton they find themselves in the middle of something odd and slightly sinister. After a fatal accident, Penny and Wade find themselves face-to-face with some very bad eggs, who threaten not only their happiness, but their lives.

Award-winning actress Danielle Cormack (Wentworth, Rake) stars as Lulu, an overstretched modern mother and career criminal who's married to Pig (Dave Fane, Sione's Wedding), a criminal psychopath. Acclaimed actor John Rhys Davies (The Lord of the Rings) plays Penny's boss, Cutter, a narcissistic crime author who finds himself at the centre of a real murder mystery.

The Bay is starting 20 March 2019

If you're a fan of a good crime drama then ITV's The Bay will be right up your street. The series follows DS Lisa Armstrong (The Replacement’s Morven Christie) as she’s assigned to a missing persons investigation that turns out to be unlike anything she's ever worked on before.

Even for seasoned viewers of crime dramas, The Bay brings something new to the genre.

ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill, said: “It’s always a challenge to find a fresh take on crime, but Daragh Carville has written a very real crime story about family and community, which is distinctive, compelling and beautifully crafted."

Here's what you need to know about the series, from the cast and plot to an air date.
The Bay: What’s it about?

The Bay is set in the northern seaside town of Morecambe and the plot centres on DS Lisa Armstrong, a police Family Liaison Officer tasked with supporting families while also investigating them.

The show's writer Daragh Carville has spoken about why this makes the series unique.

"I became fascinated by the role of the Family Liaison Officer (FLO). I wanted to write something that spanned genres by being both a crime drama and a family drama. I did some research into the role of the FLO and became fascinated by the people who do this job and volunteer to go into the homes of families at the worst time of their lives.

"The other big element was Morecambe. I live in the Morecambe Bay area and there’s never been a TV show set in that area," he said.

When Lisa is assigned to a missing persons investigation, it seems like any other at first – tragic, but all too familiar.

She's trained never to get emotionally involved - her job is to support families during the worst time of their lives whilst also being the eyes and ears of the police investigation.

Lisa realises that this time, she’s got a personal connection to the case and it could compromise her and the investigation. As she grapples to get justice for the grieving family, Lisa discovers it could come at a cost.

Speaking about what drew her to the role of Lisa, Morven Christie said:

"Being introduced to a leading character as she’s making some dramatic mistakes. She has to unravel things to cover up something she’s done. Aside from that she’s really good at her job, her natural warmth with people, her love of family, I just found her really believable."

"It’s very real in terms of how it portrays people so at different stages you like people and then you don’t, they all do things and say things that make you say ‘what is the matter with them?’ but that’s what people do."

Morven also spoke about why the show's working class setting was a reason for her getting involved with the project.

"One of the things I loved when I read the script was that it isn’t about middle class people, it’s about a different community we don’t see on TV all the time. [Lisa], as a character, has grown up in the community so it means a lot to her and the people mean a lot to her," Morven said.

The show also focuses on the family life of Lisa, who's a mum to two teenagers but isn't able to spend much time with them because she's working so much.

Daniel Ryan, who plays DI Tony Manning told press including Goodhousekeeping.com/uk:

"It’s so much more than a police procedural show. It really does deal with families with kids and the dangers of what they may be getting up to when you’re not there. If you’re someone who is off working hard at their job, possibly harder than you are at being a mum, [the show explores] the potentials of when you neglect your kid and what’s going on in their bedrooms."

The Bay: Who’s in it?

As well as Christie, The Bay stars Jonas Armstrong (Troy, Ripper Street), Tracie Bennett (Scott & Bailey, Coronation Street), Lindsey Coulson (Funny Cow, Bullet Proof), Chanel Cresswell (This is England ’90, Murdered For Being Different), Louis Greatorex (Last Tango in Halifax, Safe), Adam Long (Happy Valley, Peterloo), Taheen Modak making his professional screen debut, and Daniel Ryan (Mount Pleasant, Black Sea).
