British series, mini-series and dramas .....

Excellent first episode. Can't wait for episode 2. Feels like a great spy movie at times. Can see Tom Hiddleston as the next James Bond. Hard to take Russell Tovey serious though after seeing him in Him & Her.

My favourite show on at the moment. It's like watching hour long episodes of James Bond. Episodes 5 and 6 were dumped on net yesterday, so "binging" on last two episodes tonight.

The Stag ?

Based on this user comment.

Well just when you thought the BBC were spent they hand us this, a great mix of Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot and Hostel.

I'm in. Like the dark comedy angle. Will watch later.

Thanks for the tip. That was awesome. My kinda show :D

Just done episode 1 - binge time.

It is just "Stag". Three episodes only. Forgot I had this. Luckily took day off tomorrow...

Yes just three. Loved it. Thanks again Dave. Missed that one :D

Stag - ( just Stag )...

One of those that few will hear about - their loss.

Wow.

If it wasn't for you and dualmeister, I know that I would be missing a lot of great, more obscure shows. British, Scandinavian and US.

So a sincere: Thank You!!

P.S. You too, Cerebus........

Stag and Trapped on a weekend - everything else on my list seems mediocre now.

Hopefully Night Manager won't disappoint.

Dave made my weekend. Missed Stag completely. But as I mentioned my kinda show. Scottish countryside, dark comedy and some things I won't mention due to spoilers.

@Dave. The Night Mananger is brilliant IMO. Can't wait for next episode.

Actually I see S01 is out on Bluray already :wtf:

A slip-up by the BBC led to the disks being shipped before the season ended.

It also explains why episodes 5 & 6 are available :)

This is starting on Monday 4 April

Anna Friel Is ‘Marcella’ In ITV’s London-Set Noir Crime Drama

From Hans Rosenfeldt, creator of the original Swedish/Danish co-production The Bridge (Bron), Marcella is an eight-part crime drama that’s due to start shooting this month in London for ITV. Rosenfeldt and Nicola Larder (Sky’s development executive on The Tunnel and Dracula) created the modern-day series which will star Anna Friel in the title role. Produced by Tony Wood’s Buccaneer Media, this is Rosenfeldt’s first drama for the UK which will be injected with his Scandinavian noir style.

ITV originally greenlit the series over the summer and has now rounded out the cast. Also set to star are Downton Abbey’s Laura Carmichael, Nicholas Pinnock (Fortitude), Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street), Nina Sosanya (Last Tango In Halifax), Ray Panthaki (Convenience), Jamie Bamber (Law & Order: UK), Patrick Baladi (The Office), and Harry Lloyd (Game Of Thrones).

Friel, who last starred in NBC’s American Odyssey and Norway’s The Saboteurs, plays Marcella, a Metropolitan Police detective shocked to the core when her husband leaves her unexpectedly, confessing he no longer loves her. Having given up her fast-tracked career 10 years prior, she returns heartbroken to the Met’s Murder Squad. With the abrupt end to her marriage and isolated from her children, Marcella throws herself into work to stop from falling apart.

She wants back in on the serial killer case she first worked in 2005 and has a hunch she couldn’t follow through with earlier due to falling pregnant with a second child. Has the killer re-appeared or is a copycat murderer responsible for these recent deaths that bear the same M.O.? How will Marcella cope returning to duties when her own temperament is so fragile and vulnerable? Will throwing herself into her work provide the answers she’s seeking? Or lead her dangerously into territory she must evade at all cost? Suspicious of her husband’s motives for leaving her, Marcella finds herself playing detective away from work, but those findings could lead her to further heartbreak.

The drama will be executive produced by Rosenfeldt, Larder and Wood whose Buccaneer is a joint venture with Cineflix Media. Directors are Charles Martin (Skins, The Returned), Jonathan Teplitzky (Broadchurch, The Railway Man) and Henrik Georgsson (The Bridge). Producer is Fortitude‘s Andrew Woodhead.

After watching Stag and binging on Inside No. 9 this weekend, it has once again become painfully obvious that the Brits just know how to make really good TV. And now there is even more to be looking forward to.

This is why I always say that there is enough great TV out there so as not to waste time with "fillers" and "background noise"...

The Night Manager may be some of the best TV I've watched so far this year...

You have to love the way they drop a brilliant short series and then move on.

Unlike the yanks who always have to drag a story out into as many episodes as they can.
