British series, mini-series and dramas .....

The Trouble with Maggie Cole

Started last night.

The series delves into what happens when idle gossip escalates out of control and starts to affect people’s lives. Set in a picturesque fishing village, the series centres on Maggie Cole, the self- appointed oracle of this close-knit community. Maggie makes it her business to know a little bit about everyone’s lives. She certainly doesn’t pay attention to the cautionary adage that ‘those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones’.

Penance (2020)

Doesn't get the best rating, but it's British to there is that ;)

Penance is a new psychological thriller which introduces us to married couple Rosalie and Luke Douglas, who are mourning the untimely loss of their son. Their surviving daughter Maddie is also deeply affected, with she and her mother ultimately finding solace in the caring arms of Jed, a man they meet at a bereavement counselling session. Initially acting as a positive force in the Douglas household, restoring their hope in the future after suffering such tragedy, over the course of this three-part series it becomes apparent that something more sinister is at play.

Or:

Hot on the heels of Gold Digger and Flesh and Blood comes a lusty drama about an oedipal affair between an older woman and a younger man who looks just like her dead son.

Man I love the action scenes in Strike Back. The one in s08e05 in particular is brilliant.

Have to say I preferred Armitage from the 1st season and Philip Winchester & Sullivan Stapleton from there onward to the current duo. It was a bit lame to keep the English guy without a beard and the American with a beard. Maybe the script writers were on holiday as they really could have introduced new characters. I still watch for the skop skiet en donder content though.

Sandylands is a lot of ****. Despite having David Walliams and Simon Bird.

Ditto, but I eventually ran out of steam around S5 I think. The quality of the skiet skop and donder was even dropping. It had basically become an American series filmed in SA.
May give it another go tho.

Edit: they also went from gratuitous, unnecessary nudity to US style PG-13 garbage. Has this improved?

It hasn't improved. In essence, no nude scenes with the hero bonking the fair maiden.
