I think this is more of a product push for Symantec than anything to be believed. SA's internet speed is certainly not as fast as anywhere else as claimed by the CEO of Symantec. Most PC users have no elementary education when it comes to firewalls, antivirus programs or antispyware. Many SA PC Users are gullible by simply forwarding any and all e-mails they get as being "genuine" whereas 99.9% of them are hoaxes, especially virus threats. People do not first check the authenticity of the "warning" prior to sending a spurious message to their entire addressbook! Just how many people will know to go to 2010netthreats.com to find information? Very few! They couldn't be bothered. Their own complacency leads to the rapid spread of bogus threats.

This article looks more like advertising for Symantec than anything else. Did the writer of this article get an incentive from Symantec perhaps ?

I take offense at the insinuation. I wrote up what Enrique Salem said, no more, no less. When I'm writing up the news I don't get to be opinionated. That's what the forum is for -- for the community to call out companies and individuals on their statements based on the news that's reported.

My job is to get the news up as fast as possible while remaining 100% accurate and unbiased. That means I don't get to be snarky, sardonic or sarcastic in my tone when reporting, regardless of how I might feel about a topic. I might do opinion pieces later on based on the news I reported, but to be honest I just don't get the time to right now.

Next time you make thinly veiled insults on someone's character try to remember that you're not insulting a name on a screen but a person that's busting his ass to try and deliver information to *you.*

Total rubbish! He's just pushing his (useless) product. Of course if we didn't have Windows in the first place, we wouldn't have all these viruses around.

/me sits snug on his Linux box
