Broadband report card

The 30GB accounts accounts can't be said as a bad move by Telkom. Yes they put a stop to it, but the isp's doing so were basically committing fraud in the process because they were essentially saying traffic was local when it was not hence our current situation. In the end though it comes down to the way Telkoms bandwidth calculator works which I hope they are fixing to comply with regulations..

Yeah, the ISP's were doing pretty much what Telkom is doing with the "capped" Telkom Internet bandwidth. How naughty of them. Telkom would have kept the ball rolling if the revenue was coming to them, which it ultimately was, but they were greedy and didn't want the TI products loosing market share.

well thats assuming Ti does not have bandwidth pool. Either way it was wrong of them to sell it knowing that there was no 30GB officially, if anything old school soft cap was dropped due to just this.

well MTN's gonna outdo telkom with their tiered (shaped) pricing structure soon to be released (18th feb)

I admire your support for the law in SA, but keep in mind that Telkom is stealing billions of rands from South Africans each year. The *cough* law *cough* called ICASA just prefers not to do anything.

Telkom = windbag, lot of hot air and not much action

Any ideas on the definitive number of ADSL user that Telkom has signed up and are currently using the service? There is the figure of just ove 200 000 being spoken about. But what is the actual figure? And what is the figure between business and private users? Please can someone help with this info...

Hi Hoodwink

No official figures, but most likely sitting at around 220000...
