Broken Headlight Cover - Question

No, seriously, I am back. And thank you for responses.

I gather it's cause the sealed unit is now broken.

Anyway, the bodywork is also slightly scratched and the bonnet dented slightly close to light so I've filed a claim. Annoying, but there you go.
 
I'm in a similar position. Broke the cover of the indicator light on my side mirror. There piece missing about the size of a 20c coin and the rest is cracked. At the moment I have covered it with some of that see through contact paper. Any ideas for a more permanent solution? Pretty sure dealership will say whole new mirror.

You are just like OP...if you don't mention the car nobody can help you.

Some cars the mirror is in fact modular and you can replace parts of it.
 
OP - Your best bet would probably be to replace with a third party light which will probably be R2500-R3500 instead.
