Broken Headlight Cover - Question

Capture.JPG

It was a really dumb moment. I parked on a hill extremely close to a wall (narrow CT road). Later on when I got back in I rolled back a couple cm and because the front wheels were turned it rolled towards teh wall. I thought the mirror was going to fall off as it took all the force.

Edit: Car = Kia Cerato.

There is a place in Pretoria in the beginning of Mitchell Street call Korean Motor Parts. New and second hand good prices.

I did the exact same thing to my i30, basically a Cerato with more boring clothes :D

You can replace the lens, check out www.7zap.com for parts fiches and look for the part number on eBay or similar. The best would be to remove the trim on the inside of the door near the mirror base. You should see three nuts holding the mirror assembly on and a cable for the mirror heater and motor assy.

Remove these and take the entire mirror off the car. It's then a case of prying the glass off - there are notches behind the glass that you need to get a small flathead screwdriver into after which it should pop loose. Just be very careful not to break the glass. There may be guides on the various Kia forums.

Then it's a case of systematically disassembling the rest of the mirror which has I think three screws behind the glass you just removed and another one beneath holding the grey shell to the black plastic shell.

Will see if I can find a guide for you :)

EDIT: I found this one, which may be a step in the right direction for you: https://www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=34355.0

Thanks SauRoNZA.

After double checking I found the bonnet was also dented, as well as scratches/dents on the bumber. So filed a claim.

Thanks mna. I'll check it out this weekend.

I'm in a similar position. Broke the cover of the indicator light on my side mirror. There piece missing about the size of a 20c coin and the rest is cracked. At the moment I have covered it with some of that see through contact paper. Any ideas for a more permanent solution? Pretty sure dealership will say whole new mirror.

My friend had the same issue with a Yaris, Toyota sold him the indicator lens and we figured out how to put it in, pretty sure Kia will sell the indicator seperately.

Called them now. R450 bucks. Not as bad as I was expecting.
