Is anyone else in Brooklyn area having problems with internet speeds over the last two weeks?
We stay across from Hillcrest centre in brooklyn and lately speeds are ridiculous. 4mb speed tests cap at 40kb/s and latency is horrid. Tested the line with no other network traffic.
I'm trying to establish whether its the line, the router or the exchange. Already tested different isps with similar results so have ruled that out. Telkom aren't very helpful and just want to drop the synch rate on the line. Currently the line synch rate deviates between 2mb-4mb down and normally 352k up. But even when it synchs at 2mb the speeds are nowhere near 2mb speeds and latency is still terrible, so if they drop the line synch I'm assuming it will still be bad.
Any advice with handling Telkom in order to get a techie out would be appreciated.
