Brother robbed- iPhone stolen

My advice would be to let this go. These are dangerous people and will think nothing to stab you or worse. I know revenge seems like the way, but these things can get out of hand.
Have the iPhone bricked by your SP/Apple and hand over the info to SAPS.
A take away from this is to have multiple phones. If going out, carry a simple phone with no banking connections. One that you can just hand over. Get a second bank account and have limited funds there with a card when going out too. Sad that we have to live this way. Unless you are highly trained, and concealed carrying (with good lawyers) just move on. Many dead heroes.

Or you know…just have insurance like a normal person.

Update

The guy who stole the phone is on Facebook Marketplace selling the i.phone- so we have his name and contact details now.

My brother wants to do a small sting- and arrange to meet him with a couple of buddies. He said that he is scared that if we report him to the cops- they will contact him and his profile will dissapear.

A small sting you say? I’m sorry but that’s just a dumb idea … this is not the movies you’re not LAPD or FBI … tell your brother to be “once stabbed twice shy” … I hope he recovers…

Probably watched too many buffy, angel and/or csi

Hi,

The sting never happened- I chickened out. Gave everything to the cops- the guys name, picture, contact details- and yet they still called my brother in for a police sketch- even though they were given a photograph.

Nothing has happened. The guy is still on Facebook, but I wont post his his details here because he hasnt been charged with anything as yet.

Just put the word alleged before everything like the press does

My head agrees with you, but my heart says we as a nation need to act ourselves to show the brazen criminals we are not scared of them. Back to the wild wild west where if someone stole your sheep you and your buddies paid them a visit the following day.

Seems to have been sold. FB marketplace has many guys selling bricked iphones.

I hear though that these cellphone repair guys buy the phones for parts.
