Microsoft’s IE has been steadily losing market share to competitors like Mozilla, Safari and Chrome; which is why the launch of IE 8 is being heralded by Microsoft as a big step up.

Does this mean that they are going to stick to the standards and produce a browser that does not require hacks to get stuff to show properly?

I guess, because they did not specifically say so, that the answer is ... Not.

But, what they are doing is competing with the anti-spyware software creators.

Typical.

IE8 is slightly better than IE7, but the interface is still as ugly as sin!

Are opera's numbers worse than Safari's or Chrome's?

One of the main "features" of IE8 is the fact that it is now a standards compliant browser.

Wow I'm amazed at how Chrome has gone past Opera. I suposse it shows the might of the two companies.

I like Google Chrome more than Firefox or IE, much faster and love the cool interface.

Pity it still can't do FTP downloads & the favorites manager is crap, but I've switched from user to developer mode with Chrome, so getting latest versions of Chrome when it comes out.

I'm sure Google is working hard to address the problems mentioned above, cos I'm tired of switching between Chrome and Firefox.

Chrome can't do RSS feeds either :(
