For the past couple of weeks I have been struggling to browse to practically any site at any time of day. Well I can't be too sure what its like between 8am and 5pm during the week. But generally I will be browsing at reasonably quick speeds for a few minutes then all of a sudden the next link I click on just doesn't go anywhere. I do have HSPA signal at the time so I don't know what going on. Sometimes this just last for 5 mins and other times I may as well quit trying to brows at all.
I don't even try browsing when the weather terrible anymore, but even on the clearest of days nothing seems to be happening.

Is there anything I can do about this? My data contract will be expiring soon so I would really like to know if this is a cellc problem or would going with any provider have them same results?

I'm out of town and browsing with a Cell C dongle in my router right now. Speeds are good and it's a reliable connection. No issues for me.

It's probably a issue specific to the tower you're connecting to. How about testing your modem in a different location? A few kilometres away to be sure you're connecting to a different tower.

In the meantime, send Cell_C a PM.

In other news people are able to browse finally on CELL C, use to struggle back in the day, no throughput whatsoever now things are finally functioning, working order.

That much needed capital came to good use, throughput finally.

I dump my data sims into an android phone and then use wifi hotspot. The 3g dongles I had were pretty useless as modems. The phone reconnects when the network signal is dropped.

So far I've tried Cell C, Vodacom and MTN with Vodacom being the least consistent on connection.

Hi blakehorns, Please PM me your number and street address. Also check if you have the older version of the connection manager as the new one had issues.. *DM*

Your issues can be related to dongle power problems. Specific models are more power hungry than others. Try your dongle on other network prepaid SIM. 8ta has good on-net bundles 2+1GB R149 by example. If 8ta signal is lower and you your results are better, then likey it is network related. Also try to set network manual search and select Cell C. It would prevent your dongle from looking for the towers which don't give any throughput (like Vodacom towers in 3G mode).
