BSC Informatics Group

Im completing my BSC this semester through UNISA, and want to do the BSC in Computing Honours next year, doing more INF modules then COS modules.

Sorry to hijack the thread but does anybody know how to get your student number online somehow? I was registered as a student in 1991 but can't remember my student# so was hoping there's a page i could punch my ID number into to get my student#

Nope. Your best option is to go to Unisa offices.

Fellow Bsc Informatics student here too just want to say Hi, I've done intro to prog 1, fairly simple actually(maybe because I've done some C# before). Currently doing Intro to prog 2(second assignment is due this friday). Although it's true that it's not that hard, keep in mind it's not a walk in the park module either.

Well said. Not hard but not a walk in the park either. I found the second assignment to be time consuming!

Done with second assignment. Sure it's time consuming, if you log into your myunisa you can download their assignment2 example exercise. Helps A LOT

Just out of curiosity, could you guys maybe post the assignment here? I'd love to get an idea of the difficult of questions you face.

Hi guys,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask. But here goes...

I have a Unisa student number (From last year) & didn't study this year. Would I be able to register modules for next year?

Yes, you can register end of this year for the next semester. Your student number is for life and a once off registration. UNISA may request your documentation used to apply for registration again if there is a big lapse between re-registration for studies (as in > 5yrs).

All the best.

They are not hard but here is my assignment I did last night. Its a 3rd year subject, Human Computer Interaction, and one of the hardest. If you do all your assignments on time and read through your work, then its not impossible:

ASSIGNMENT 1
Due date: 3 September (Compulsory submission)

Question 1.
Give the four activities that make up the process of interaction design.

Question 2.
Briefly describe the four interaction types, discussed in Chapter 2 of the prescribed book.

Question 3.
Give five examples of collaborative technologies that support coordination.

Question 4.
Describe the four types of pleasure proposed in Jordan's pleasure model.

Question 5.
What are the four (2007) or five key (2011) issues that determine the success of a data gathering exercise
according to Preece, et al.?

Question 6.
Describe three ways in which users can be involved in the interaction design process.

Question 7.
List six ways in which data can be gathered to establish user requirements. Give a one sentence
description of each.

Question 8.
Briefly explain the three evaluation types or approaches as discussed in chapter 12.3 of Preece, et al.

Question 9.
What are the steps involved in cognitive walkthrough?

Thanks a mil! Yeah, has too many things going on the last time I registered. If I remember right, there was only Bcomm Informatics - which was falling away anyway. My heart was always set on the BSC. Would love to start next year!

Hi guys;

I'm hoping to start a debate, an exchange of wisdom and knowledge on what I should do:

Help me here - Please:

Would highly appreciate it and if I may kindly request your valued input in my thread surrounding my choice of either BSc in Computing or Informatics.
