Budget 2016 - Discussion thread

Which one did you have in mind ?
If WWIII breaks out it won't matter. We will get partitioned.

If WWIII breaks out we will need offensive capabilities to solidify our position in Africa, which we don't have.

The reality for RSA after WWIII is incredibly bleak.

Our Country is Fcked. So much for placing hope in this guy.

R21/$ here we come.

I'll need to go buy beer for all the forum members winning the bet

Doesn't seem to me like this budget is cutting enough fat.
All I hear is money being spent all over the place and everybody's salaries being increased.
It is an election year after all, and Gordhan did look away while Nkandla was built with our money..

Tomorrow it all back to normal, rand losing value, me paying more for stuff, and government stealing from its citizens.
What a vague and stupid budget.

If WWIII breaks out we're likely safer down here in the arse end of the world than most countries, we don't need to waste money on equipment we don't have the expertise to use anyway. We just need to sit back and see who survives the nuke war, maybe learn some Mandarin or Russian in the mean time just in case ...

Your reason?

Nothing in this budget was aggressive instead traditional leaders kings and queens gets higher pay and spending all over the place increase.

I see no reason why we should not be a Junk rated country

Wtf are we spending more money than we getting in? How much are they gonna mismanage?

This is my whole issue with all these taxes. What is happening to the extra tax when you buy a new car, Plastic bags?
Into some cadre's personal spending budget.

That is the case no matter how much they increase defence spending. In a potential world war scenario we would be allied with the likes of Russia and China. So would nearly all the rest of Africa, so who would be in danger from that we would have any hope of stopping?

This is excellent news:

This year brings our fourth fully democratic local government elections. In recognition of this, the National Treasury will launch a data portal to provide all stakeholders with comparable, verified information on municipal financial and non-financial performance. I hope this will further stimulate citizen involvement in local governance.

When an income bracket shifts upwards the tax payable decreases.

Imperialist lies. You say there's relief but you increase all these levies. Yor one hand gives me relief but your other hand reaches into my wallet and takes more out. Yor tactics will not work. Off with your head!!

Doubt it, we control an important sea route in the event of the closure of Suez. But we digress.

We spending more than our income. Isn't that a bit counter productive since we trying to appear like we give a fsuck

we need to spend money to promote economic growth, more so than we need to reduce the current deficit
