Hi All,

I need to get a phone for my gardener. My primary requirements are:
1. Needs to be compatible with WhatsApp
2. Needs to be "decent" to use (i.e. not freeze or take several seconds to open a basic app) -> Won't be used for any high intensity tasks
3. Have decent battery
4. Have decent build quality so it doesn't fall part after a few months

I am trying to find the cheapest phone that would meet the above requirements.

Whats your price range?
Something like this?

I would ideally like to pay less than R1000 but also don't want to be pennywise.

Well I would suggest something that at least have 2gb ram and more important 4000mah-5000mah battery, as your gardener will maybe not always be able to charge it any time.
If you must stay under R1k I would rather look at a decent second hand Samsung A03 or similar

Which is the Xiaomi's 9A's specs

I’ve decided to get the galaxy A03

Now the question is, should I give the gardener rather the huawei mate 9 (a 6 year old phone, my daughter uses for games and listening to audio book type things) and give the A03 to my daughter? I guess the screen is bigger and we should get the latest OS so it should last longer
