I am in full and total agreement with you.Not to bothered by who I offend with that statement - Our current government is the ANC - the current government, according to me, is screwing up this country.
The worst part is, this world crisis has come at just the right time for the ANC - they now have something else to blame for failures.
Not sure how old you are - but we're talking about public school's now, and not just the school's, the actual education system.
When I was in school - 10 years ago - the schools were still ok, I actually think it was just after I left when things started to go down.
Judging by your misuse of the apostrophe, I'm thinking that things have started going downhill even before you've been in school!
Seriously, though - my brother is in high school now and things aren't all bad. I help him with his technical drawings and his IT coding assignments and it hasn't changed that much since I was in school - which was about 6 years ago.
And Medical Aid contributions are no longer Tax Exempt.. decreased Income tax, but made more of your income Taxable.
Taxpayers under 65 are not taxed on, or may deduct, monthly contributions to medical schemes up to R625 for each of the irst two dependants on their medical scheme and R380 for each additional dependant. In addition they can claim a
deduction for medical scheme contributions above the caps and any other medical expenses limited to the amount which exceeds 7,5% of taxable income (excluding retirement fund lump sums)
Could you explain more? Does that just mean that they don't deduct it before you pay tax, but you can still claim on it at the end of the year? Or can you now not claim on med aid contributions at all? Because that's quite a big changeAnd what about medical expenses not covered by your medical aid?
Edit:
Actually, I think you're wrong. Looking at the pocket guide, it says:
Significantly, in preparation for the proposed changes, medical scheme contributions will cease to qualify as tax-free fringe benefits.
There aren't. Would you swop your private education with any of these free public education schools?
