Buffalo couriers

Hi there this is the email I received. What’s aggravating me so much about the situation is the fact that they lost my previous parcel which I then re ordered for this to happen. The entire process of trying to get what I want has taken 2 months. How long will the clearing take?

Thank you so much for the response and the very useful information. How long will the process take? I have an uncle that works for SARS and another family friend involved with customs. Could I by any chance get them to speed up the process. I’ve already been pushed around enough by Buffalo.

It's usually very quick, a day or 2

That would be a dream, wow. I’ve called Buffalo twice today and they told me the process would take 4-8 weeks. I’m just praying that the customer service have no idea what they’re talking about because my package’s status says “clearing” not “detained by customs”. I really hope you’re right

4-8 weeks sounds weird
Once Ive paid Buffalo I usually wait a day or 2 and the courier is at my front door

Buffalo told me earlier today it’s an inspection

They told me earlier today it’s under inspection, but that can’t be the case with the Importer’s code email they sent right?

Parcel arrived not long after I sent my ID. Replied to your PM.
 
Thanks to everyone who responded with really useful information. May I just ask if anyone has received an email stating that their package has been detained by South African customs? And if so how long did it take to clear?

Thank you that’d be perfect. The email they sent to ask for ID, bank statement and order confirmation was pretty dodge. And after submitting everything the page didn’t refresh or anything like that it just said “successfully obtained importer’s code” as a pop up message. So I hope that’s all fine.

Should be fine. Just have a glass of wine (or oros) and enjoy the end of June.

Do you know what happens if lets say I have orderd a 4th parcel ? Do I pay an extra fee or do they send the package back to sender ?

PS: not long ago I saw on Sars website that the amount was 50k and it sounded to me that is was the max amount per item, max 3 a year.

EDIT: Found the Sars page again, still not sure what happens when you go over the limit:

Oh cool they've upped the numbers, nice
Yeah there are limits, if you go over you need to apply for an importers code.
It's a once off thing, you do it once in your life and that's it
When SARS questions you for an item you just give them the importers code
Without the code they are using your ID number and thats how they track how often you are importing.
If you go over the limit in a year just use the wifes name and ID etc

Tnx , I'll look into getting an importers code again as some years ago it did not seems to simple as an individual to apply but probably much cheaper that getting a wife :-)

Haha, yeah they sent me all the forms in email a few years ago
It just looked like too much paperwork so I never bothered
Better this way
Now I am not buying stuff I dont need anymore :laugh:
