Customs has stopped your parcel for an inspection, actually. They aint lying. They might require more info from you in order to get it released though, so reach out to them and check.

Please remind me...do they deliver on the weekend?

Buffalo Logistics? Nope, not that I am aware of, normally 8am to 5pm work days
I think my last 2 packages got delivered to me around 19:00!
But yea I also think monday to friday.

I got a call from them at 1:50am this morning (0872406471)!!!

it was an automated message that I didn't really understand and then the call was disconnected.

Not very happy with them at the moment....(Yes I do expact a parcel, but I am more then ok with email updates)

Strangely enough, I received a call from that exact same number last night at around 20:40 side however I missed the call. Quick google search indicated it's from Buffalo. I did a order through Fruugo though

So I sent an email to complain about the call and they replied with "Your parcel is going through customs clearance. We will deliver it to you as soon as possible after it arrives at the warehouse. Please wait patiently."

What is happening with Buffalo?
I missed their call on sat (why is he whatsapp calling me??) and when I called back they promised to deliver on sunday.
Now I get this email:
And the failure reason is: TEL no answer.

We can arrange a new delivery for you, and it may due an “extra delivery fee” based on your order.
Click the link below to schedule your next delivery so that we can dispatch your parcel as soon as possible.

when I click on the link I get an invoice for R57.4?
seriously?

The issue here is the weekend deliveries. They are expecting me to guess on what day delivery will land and give up the correct work or residential address. A near impossibility. They have the tech and should at least attempt to send you an email alert that a weekend delivery will be attempted. I have been lucky that I was able to take that call and receive the parcel over the weekend without having to go through what you are doing now. They are welcome to attempt delivery over a weekend without prior notification but need to accept that delivery might fail and only demand extra payment after having attempted a weekday delivery

I think I am being punished for not answering my phone.....from Delivery on sat, now I have to wait....I called and was told in 48 hours, nothing was mentioned about paying anything extra.
So lets see.

Slightly off topic, but anyone used?

Looking for alternative shipping options for sites that don't support courier options (and prefer our dodgy Post Office)...

Going to be real with you, they are bottom of the barrel, so they are going to charge for everything they can.
You can argue with them or get your parcel.
In my experience if you try argue with a courier they just ignore you until you pay.

It is unfortunate the world we live in now, but couriers expect you to be available and if not at the very least answer your phone.
It'll be a hard battle to fight because from their perspective they have a LOT of deliveries every day.
Their way to prevent constant re-deliveries is to incentivize people to be available.
More expensive couriers like Fedex/DHL/etc. will make 2 delivery attempts and then you need to pay, Buffalo is so low cost, they can't probably afford to do more than 1 delivery attempt without making a loss.

It isn't fair to you, but it isn't really fair to them either.

From what I can see they are just dumping the responsibility on the drivers who look to be simalar to your typical uber/bolt contract type drivers so they are going to take whatever shortcuts they can.

They arnt even bothering going to my house anymore and just dumping the packages at the security entrance of the complex.

I expect things to get worse before they get better so I'm not ordering anything for a while until things settle down.

All courier companies do this in Cape Town in my experience.
I've tried fighting it, but now I just have them deliver it to my work where we have cameras and sign in procedures to make sure there isn't stories later.
But the dumping of parcels is not a Buffalo thing, at least not in my experience, it is just all couriers thing.

FastWay has been the worst, they've claimed to have delivered things, we get video evidence of them not being there and only after opening a case with the police and opening a refund with the bank did they finally admit that actually yes they lost the parcel and "somehow" entered delivered for my parcel even though they did not, in fact deliver it (basically when asking for the name and signature of the person that accepted it along with the date).

I've received probably 200 parcels or so, from the post-office, 0 losses so far (I'll admit you really need to know how to track parcels with the PO and you need to know the local people there or you will never find out if your parcel is actually there. It isn't that they lose your parcel, it is just that nobody cares to let you know or even keep track of parcels by person. No tacking number is equivalent to it doesn't exist with PO).
I've gotten at least as many from the other couriers combined. (Mostly Aramex, then Fedex, then DHL, then UPS).

In all of that the only company to ever lose parcels has been Fastway & Buffalo. Fastway twice. Buffalo once (parcel to this day says it is awaiting customs)
Since the second incident with Fastway I haven't used them.
