Building new PC..is this ok?

Ya lol, what you need such fast RAM for? :p Can save a few hundred there

I'd rather see you go for a cheap LGA1155 motherboard R1250
Coupled with a i5 2400 CPU R1750
4GB 1333 DDR3 RAM R750
HD6870 R2000
Whatever hard drive R500
Corsair CX500W PSU R550
Total R6800

Those are max prices you should expect to pay, you should be able to get a couple of them cheaper

As for memory my trusted manufacturers are G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston in that order. Feel like I'm leaving one out, but between those three you'll do fine

I use Mushkin, not the best but pretty good for the price I think
 
That mem stick looks good!
That site has the incorrect specs though, only CL9. But its makes zero difference for games so no need to worry

All the LGA1155 boards must be B3. Gigabyte is the only one I know of that is still shipping previous revs, so to be safe go with Asus rather. But even if you get a previous rev, the supplier is obliged to swap it for you free of charge.
 
LGA1155 aka Sandy Bridge (SB) is Intels latest available socket.... google sandy bridge review, it's pretty hectic. If you get a SB cpu and SB mobo, simply make sure it says B3 on the motherboard box, or in it's Model Number (eg GA-P67A-UD7-B3)

Google "Sandy Bridge B3" to find out more. But you only need to follow the above step...
 
Hey guys any advice on the following build is appreciated.

i5 2500K LGA-1155
ASUS P8P67 PRO-M
2 x Kingston ValueRam KVR1333D3N9 4Gb ddr3-1333

Regarding the motherboard, the M is mircoATX, but is a lot cheaper than the normal ATX size. I have a gigabyte Poseidon case that supports both, but with regards to heat management should I fork out the additional cost?(I don't have a top of the range GPU)
 
This motherboard, Asus P8P67-M, the net says it's micro ATX? That means it's a small motherboard? Hows it going to fit into my box? Isn't there one like this that's the full ATX size, confusion :confused:
 
Any full ATX capable case will be able to take a micro ATX board ;) You will have less PCI slots is all (usually 4 instead of 7)
