Building new PC..is this ok?

with the Sandy Bridge CPU's, the extension letters has the following attributes:
K: Able to overclock
S: Low power
T: Ultra low power

Given a budget of R7k, you won't be able to afford a R2.5k graphics card, R2k CPU & R2k motherboard, if the budget has to include the RAM, hard drive, DVD-drive, case & power supply too!

For a gaming rig and a R7k budget, I'd advise you to go for the VTX3D HD 6870 @ R1,999 from Wootware, Corsair CX500 PSU and an i5 2400 CPU and a H67 chipset motherboard or even a very cheap P67 one (under R1400).
The Corsair CX500 PSU costs like R70 more than the CM EPP 500W, but it is definitely worth it, seeing that the EPP 500W has only 1x 6-pin PEG connector.
 
Get some feedback here on that Coolermaster PSU, not sure how good they are.
Why such a small LCD?

All looks good to me and plus one for the bigger screen :)

Just a heads up, I recently built a new PC and went with a 550w PSU. Now I am kicking myself as I want to go crossfire and have to upgrade my PSU as well :/ I wish that I had started off with a better PSU as I would've saved myself cash in the long run.

The PSU isn't the best around, but it isn't all bad either.
It is one of the cheapest Dual Rail PSU's though..

If you're getting a monitor as well, just make sure it's Full HD, that's the most important bit. There's a ton of discussion on LCD, LED etc.. But with a budget, look at Full HD and then add extras after....

What you recommend Ono, single 12v rail is ok or is it imperative I go for double?

How do you know if it's full HD?

Edit: Are there any specific monitors that are required for gaming or doesn't it matter whether gaming or for movies etc?

For gaming, you want a nice fast response rate which is measured in ms. Most are 2 to 5 ms nowadays which is good for gaming. I have a 5ms Samsung monitor and its great for gaming. Don't worry too much about going LED, a good LCD monitor is fine as there isn't really much difference.

A full HD monitor will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080

Most are 5ms or lower, but 5ms is 100% fine, I'm gaming on a Samsung LCD with 5ms and compared it with a 2ms LED the other day and I couldn't see a difference and my opinion is that if you can't see it, it's not there...

You guys have been an amazing help I cannot thank you enough. The last PC I built myself was over 7 years ago, an old 2.8 Athlon with Radeon 9800 card. Things have changed so much, so once again thank-you for your input.

I'm going to get this screen, seems great, it seems to match what you guys have suggested.
